A Fox Trot in the Dark...

Fox Trot--“A social dance, in quadruple meter, performed by couples, characterized by various combinations of slow and quick steps.”(dictionary.online)

What is one to make of the current shuttle/shuffle diplomatic whirlpool, between Israel and Abu Mazen of the PA. Israel and Hamas, Israel and Syria, Israel and ?...

First let’s start with the "Syrian Bride." (a good film by the way)

Syria in the past has always denied having secret talks with Israel. The last series of secret talks were held in Istanbul not long ago between a prominent Syrian American businessman called Suleiman and some Israeli whom I believe was/is an ambassador to Turkey by the name of Alon (not sure of the exact name though, told you a thousand times am bad with names.)

Today though, it’s out in the open. Olmert is ready to give up/back the Golan Heights to Syria.

Been watching the news on both Al-Arabiya and Al-Jazeera. By the way am convinced that Al-Arabiya works for al-Maliki and Co. Will get back to that later once we finish the first part of our dance.

So Syria talking from a high position, with quite a bit of self-assuredness, said through its official spokesperson, that in the past Israel has been trying to get some major concessions from Syria in exchange for the Golan Heights. These concessions regard 1) its regional alliance with Iran and 2) the Palestinian refugees inside of Syria. Syria has made it clear that it will not accept any concessions on these two items. In other words, Syria is adamant about maintaining its “privileged " strategic relationship with Iran, intact. At least so far.

Even though it’s too soon to make conclusive judgments, I personally believe that Israel is very much aware of this “privileged” relation between Syria and Iran and I very much doubt that Israel will try to coax Syria out of its side dance with the Mullahs of Tehran. I believe a preliminary agreement has already been reached behind closed doors.

The coming weeks will tell for sure. If Iran is temporarily left on the back burner of international public propaganda or the opposite, if the tone against Iran antes up considerably, then you can be sure that a preliminary agreement with Syria does include Iran in the long term. In other words total silence and extremely loud barks amount to the same in international politics.

Am afraid to break it to my Palestinians friends but the same is happening with Hamas, the PA and Israel. (and I consider Hamas somewhat of a distant proxy for Iran – I did say somewhat distant)

Let’s see what we’ve got in that quadruple dance. We have Abdallah of Jordan visiting the White House as a “messenger of peace.” and we have the PA of Abass engaging in secret negotiations with Israel.

Al-Arabiya actually interviewed Abu Mazen in his private jet on his way to Washington D.C. Was hilarious actually. Next to him was seated Ereikat, who has his head phones on and looked as if he was comfortably snoozing away. Abu Mazen made sure to leave a copy of the Koran on the table in front of him, as if he is trying to tell the Palestinians - " hey guys, am a Muslim too, not just Hamas."

In reply to the question why are the negotiations so secret, Abu Mazen said that if he divulged their nature, then the media will screw it up for him. But he did assure all of us that whatever the outcome, he will keep us informed, eventually...

On the other side of the quadruple dance, Hamas and Israel via both Carter and Egypt are in my opinion definitely working out some sort of a deal. Never mind the loud barks, don’t pay attention to these, pay attention to the political context in which all of this is happening.

Before I forget, Israel deployed some of its soldiers inside Lebanese territory today, and they took a “fighting” position, and the Lebanese army just watched them...and took pictures.(hahahahaha). Of course, another meaningless flexing of muscles that no one paid attention to. After this third rate Rambo show, the Israeli soldiers went back to their bases. Of course one wonders what the fuck was that all about.

In Iraq on the other hand, I have a few juicy stories to report following Rice’s éclair visit.

First the hot news then the not so hot news...

Again saw it on Al-Arabiya but was not reported on Al-Jazeera. The American forces said they captured in Hamrain in the Salaheddin province “someone who looks like Izzat al-Durri, has the same age as Izzat al-Durri, but they are not sure if it is indeed Izzat al-Durri.” (typical American stupidity.) So this man who looks like Izzat al-Durri has been detained and they are “running some DNA tests to confirm if this is Izzat al-Durri or not Izzat Al-Durri”.

Two hours later, a report came out stating that this is not Izzat al-Durri.

But two minutes later after this report, the Iranian/Iraqi “Doctor” Muwafak Al-Rubaie (also known as Karim Shahpour) from the Dawa party, advisor to Al-Maliki said that “the Iraqi forces from the 4th and 5th division caught two terrorists groups in Hamrain –Salaheddin province, and that they were running NUCLEAR tests on them”

Of course the alleged Doctor in Neurology, M.Al-Rubaie, meant to say DNA tests. Just proves to you what I stated before, Al-Rubaie is no doctor but was a waiter in his dad’s restaurant, then became an accountant...then a "doctor advisor." But in the Western press he is portrayed as a Neurologist!

Meanwhile a trailer from an interview with “Dr.” Al-Maliki on Al-Arabiya (to be aired on Friday at 11 pm Saudi time) shows him saying “I proved over and over that I am not a sectarian, that I care deeply about the Iraqi people…”(Yeah sure and am Nefertiti)

Rumors circulating in Baghdad, say that Al-Sadr and Maliki might be reaching an agreement soon, but they are keeping the loud barks going. In fact, Maliki is encouraging the Sadrists to become like the Hezbollah organization, be involved in the political process, and in the “humanitarian social work” but give up their arms -at least in the South and in Baghdad – but to keep them well hidden in the dark for the upcoming Mosul battle...

If Israel and Syria succeed in their dance, and if the PA, Hamas and Israel succeed in theirs, you can be 100% sure, that a deal will be struck with Iran down the line –officially, that is.

As for the rest of the Arab Fox Trot ? They gave up Fox Trot ages ago and are now working as Go Go girls in a cabaret strip tease show.

How much political strength does the 'Queen' in Jordan have?

KM,

Enough to speak out against reckless driving. LOL

Useless water-blooded pretty doll, a "plebeian"-born Raghad is a thousand times more Queen than she and her likes of the other Arab vassal kingdoms are.

IF the United States' end game is China & Russia, Iran may be used to try to get levarage.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/aug/22/topstories3.russia

The Soviet Union had expanded Westward into countries that had actual borders in the same land mass. The United States is expanding into countries that do not share the same land mass.

The US claims it is spreading a democrracy while the Soviets expanded their version of government.

China & Russia have some very impressive weaponery that leaves the US in awe and basically dumbfounded.

EXCELLENT blog, as usual. By the way, I, too, saw the Syrian Bride. I also thought it was a very good film, but, am very glad to get confirmation that it did not, distort, misrepresent, exploit and/or trivialize its subject matter for dramatic impact. I couldn't be sure about that last part, altho, even if it did, it was still a good film. As a matter of fact, I saw it a few times, not once. It played in the US on the non-commercial, cable, Sundance Channel, and, fortunately, they repeat films quite a number of times.--karlmarx

So many wheels within wheels .Hard to tell which matter, and which way they are going .

I have a few questions/qualifications/ "are you sure?'s" related to this and a few of the previous posts .

1) You see Israel and Iran working together , or at least with mutual interests. On the surface , it would seem more in the Israeli interest to have a moderately strong Iraq to counter Iran . On the other side it might make sense to weaken/ break up Iraq because it would help their ally Turkey minimize/control/weaken the Kurds. Also , if Iran had control (In the Syrian/Lebanese model , pre-now) of a chaotic Iraq, it might keep them busy . (and less able to support Hezbollah ?) Sooooooo....... why would the Israelis prefer the option of Iran having more influence/power? Is that preferable, as a counter to the Arab countries besides Iraq?

2) Re: (Carter/Hamas)/(Bush/Abu Mazen) Are you sure it's all of a set-piece? When Rice criticized Carter she made some specific statements , and Carter said she was lying .( Without using the word.) Seems a bit too pointed for political theater as it's usually practiced .Why would Bush and Carter be on the same page ? Carter despises Bush, and although there's no evidence, I suspect it goes both ways . Carter has publicly criticized BushCo, and the Busheviks are quite vindictive .So what's the rationale? Get something done , and fight for the legacy credit later?

3) Bush says he certain he'll get a Palestinian state deal done before he leaves . ....& he seems happy to say so . OK.... Who's gonna get screwed? Why is he so confident ?(or is he?) Compromise, sacrifice, doing hard difficult work, and actually accomplishing worthwhile are not their MO . Mendacity, laziness, obstinance, and grinding for political advantage is what they do . What will happen, that some important faction can't live with? Why will we regret it ? ;)

4) My defense of Carter here is that Hamas is the actual elected government . Is that correct? Or is there more to it? Some funny business in the election, that we don't know about?

A woman rubbed a bottle and out popped a genie. The amazed woman asked if she got three wishes.
The genie said, "Nope, sorry, three-wish genies are a storybook myth. I'm a one-wish genie. So...what'll it be?"
The woman did not hesitate. She said, "I want peace in the Middle East. See this map? I want these countries to stop fighting with each other and I want all the Arabs to love the Jews and Americans and vice-versa. It will bring about world peace and harmony."
The genie looked at the map and exclaimed, "Lady, be reasonable. These countries have been at war for thousands of years. I'm out of shape after being in a bottle for five hundred years... I'm good but not THAT good! I don't think it can be done. Make another wish and please be reasonable."
The woman thought for a minute and said, "Well, I've never been able find the right man. You know - one that's considerate and fun, likes to cook and help with the house cleaning, is great in bed, and gets along with my family, doesn't watch sports all the time, and is faithful. That is what I wish for...a good man."

The genie let out a sigh and said, "Let me see the fucking map again."

@mikeinportc!
You say.........."help their ally Turkey minimize/control/weaken the Kurds....."
It is unbelievable, how MISINFORMED you STILL are!
Turkey has no such intentions. Otherwise, they wouldn't be breeding like rabbits, get a control over their aggressiveness, and have a backbone by now! And my words should not be misunderstood, I am only referring to the Kurdish shit stirrers! Anyone who have lived in the region long enough knows, (that leaves you out off it, cause I'm sure you've never set foot in the region)Kurds who are the puppets of imperial powers, can stab a nation behind its back, although they have been fed, cared for, welcomed, regarded as brothers. They prefer to (always) dance a sickening belly dance for a chosen superpower, only for that season! Search the Russian archives and see what they have done to the Armenians!
Once again, Turkey does not need to do anything to weaken them, they ARE weak, not having a backbone! They'll walk around in their stone age peshmerga costumes, signing deals with US and the branches of the Roman Empire! I am really tired of how misinformed, or how biased you are, but you should see how STRONg the Kurds are, when they are treating their women and kids like shit, and especially performing stonings and honour killings!
One last word about Ahmet Türk, parliamentary groupleader of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP), he should shut his filthy mouth, as he is a supporter of a terrorist organization, called PKK, which is capable of bombing BABIES! And They are only capable of serving the imperialist powers, and not the Kurdish people! They want to speak their language, and they do, they have always done! But it is NOT the language of the heart! Another disgusting tactic of "divide and conquer!".

Layla, under it all there may be a method in this face to face Tango of Iran & 'the Union of the Soviet States (aka America).

In America the government can look at many records here. What web sites we go to, who we call, who we text, perhaps out financial instituions we use and our medical records. Its a special blend of KGB-ism / Brownshirts and Mickey Mouse on revelutionary-heroin.

Oh, and yes they can call anybody a 'terrorist' here, just like they can label a country a terror state. They can freeze a persons finances just as they can go about to freeze a nations or certain particulars of a nation.

This apparently is what they are spreading about Iran; freezing, and they ( the American Jinn :)...are using the sanctions on Iran to try to get some leverage on Iran.

BCCI in brief

mikeinport,

You've raised some important questions here. As you know am not a clairvoyant, but will attempt to answer some of your questions.

1) Israel and Iran,

Moshe Dayan said to the effect as I can't remember the exact wordings "I will be very worried only when the Arabs are a strong united group".
Hence, logically it makes more sense for Israel to share mutual interests with Iran than with any Arab country (as Iraq was) who was clearly not only anti-zionist, but also held a pan arab ideology, was progressive and secular and had enough resources to develop and back its pan arab program.

I am not saying that Iran and Israel will get married in a catholic church for ever and ever, till death do them part. Such a marriage is reserved for the US and Israel. But yes in the short run at least and it is too obvious in the case of Iraq that Israel and Iran are lovers in the dark, but they hide their affair with lots of psy ops.

2)Bush, Carter and Hamas,

Yes you are right, Bush needs to have something done, anything done before he leaves office re palestinian question. He is failing big time. I don't know if Carter and Bush love or hate each other, I don't live in the US and American domestic political nuances don't interest me much.
The way I see it is Carter's bid is another attempt to resolve the palestinian crisis before Bush leaves office. And with the hope that the next govt will inherit less damage. Is he counting on a democratic victory? I don't know, but it is possible. And if this is so, the Iranian storm will pass for sure.

3) Hamas,

Yes Hamas has been democratically elected. True. And the PA of Abass has committed major unforgivable political blunders, but nothing is non negotiable. At the same time, I believe that Hamas has also committed political mistakes which are not going to prove beneficial in the long run for the palestinians. I am not a Hamas supporter nor a Fateh supporter by the way, and Hamas survival will depend on how much it will wisen up strategically and politically.
One thing that will definitely help it in doing so is the demise of Abu Mazen who has been disastrous to the palestinian cause. I just hope that Hamas will have the intelligence to do so through political pressure and not through an intra palestinian war.

However despite all the above, I maintain that a "state of War" in the ME cannot endure for ever, as it is humanly impossible and history is there as a teacher, so yes, deals will be worked out, maybe not overnight, there will be push and pull but as in any grand deal there is always a black sheep sacrificed and sadly it is IRAQ.

KM,

The US will not do anything to Iran before the Iraqi plan is completed and a done deal.

I think yer right on that too Layla. The United States will USE whomever / whatever they can to reach the goals. When the United States no longer has a use, the rest is history.

In the past I would try to make a distinction between the United States government / those that work within and for the United States government as compared to others in America.
I will no longer do this. The reason I will now group everything the United States does comes from the American people AND the United States government is based on the montra coming from within the United States itself; that, being that the United States is the BEST democracy in the World. ( so people choose to claim )

The words; BEST democracy in the World then means...that the United States government acts upon the will of the people living within the United States; that the citizens of the United States are responisible for EVERYTHING that that the United States has carried out since it's beginnings.

So American people have nobody to blame but theirselves if it is truly the best democracy and if they truly control the government.

And with the United States government continuously claiming to the World, that the US is a 'leader'..then all of America is responsible for the events taking place in the World today.
