Framing Pakistan.

I have mentioned it and/or alluded to it in most of my posts dealing with Iran, namely that Iran will be used by the US and its allies to stir sectarianism wherever a Shiite minority exists. I mentioned Lebanon, Bahrain, Kuwait, Pakistan, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

I have come to this conclusion after close study of the Iraqi "experiment".

Already a year ago, I have been saying that Pakistan is next on the list. I maintain what I said.

The Mumbai attacks add an extra confirmation to my hypothesis.

The first thing the Western Media and the Indian government did, while the fights were still raging, was to point an accusatory finger at Pakistan - including guess who ? Patrick Cockburn, the "firebrand" Mullah Sadr, lover.

For those of you who have been following the news, Pakistan for the past 4 months or so has witnessed an escalation of US air force attacks on it, in particular in the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
This followed the "bizarre" assassination of Benazir Bhutto and the stepping down of Musharraf, the ex-Pakistani president. (see addendum at end of the post)

And just by coincidence, the Mumbai attacks are said to be carried out by militant Jihadists, belonging to Al-Qaeda, in other words hard core Sunnis. And all the heads turned immediately to Pakistan.

The aim of course is to destabilize Pakistan which happens to have nuclear power. Pakistan will be destabilized by the eventual use of the sectarian card, and this is where Iran will come in very handy. Just like Iran came in very handy for the dismantlement of the Iraqi state.

I have a Hindu friend, who is not terribly politicized but still quite aware. He gave me some information that I have no way of verifying but that I gladly received as it clarified some missing links regarding the latest in Mumbai.

He said :

- First of all, in all 5 stars hotels in India, there are security guards inside and outside the hotel, ever since India has been experiencing a string of attacks every two months or so. Inside each hotel there are cameras and "special office desks" where all movements are monitored.

- Secondly, he got first hand information that two of the "jihadists" had been working in the Taj Mahal hotel kitchen for over a year. That all this talk of Al-Qaeda is nonsense to him . For him as a Hindu, America is Al-Qaeda, they invented Al-Qaeda.

- Thirdly, that he could not understand how the Indian army which is known to be one of the most powerful and well trained, could not intervene in the 5 attacks that took place and they did not take place simultaneously either. He could not understand how the attackers were able to run from one location to another and take final refuge in the hotel, as the official version alleges.

- Fourthly, he believes that some forces/parties within the Indian government have a hand in it and that these attacks have been planned for at least 2 years in advance, with the bomb blasts preceding them - as some kind of psychological preparation.

- Fifthly, he believes that the US wants to create an insurmountable rift between India and Pakistan, pitting one country against the other, destabilizing both, politically and economically. He added that India alongside China is an emerging power and that the US needs to find new dumping grounds for its arms i.e in India by creating a serious conflict not only between India and Pakistan, but also between the Hindu and Muslim communities inside the country.

- Sixthly, he concluded by saying that he would never dare mention anything like that in India because he would disappear in no time - despite all the big talk about Indian democracy. And the whole media cover up of the Mumbai drama has left him seriously doubting any credible argument from his own government. And he finished off by saying that it is not only Pakistan that is being framed but that India has fallen into the trap as well.

I am truly worried for Pakistan and the Pakistani people. And am also quite concerned about a violent eruption of sectarian/ethnic conflicts in both countries Pakistan and India. But I believe that Pakistan is the prime target and am preparing myself to hear more on that in the coming weeks/months...

After Pakistan, I know that Saudi Arabia is down the line, the final frontier. Again, Iran will be all too happy to oblige and fulfill its role in that grand American Zionist game. As a matter of fact it is impatiently waiting to do so.

Addendum :

And this is what Obama had to say about Musharraf in August 2008
The Obama camp issued the following statement following Pakistani President Musharraf’s announcement today:

“President Musharraf has made the right decision to step down as President of Pakistan. It is in the interests of his country and the Pakistani people to end the political crisis that has immobilized the coalition government for too long. I have long said that the central terrorist threat to the United States lies in northwest Pakistan and Afghanistan, and not Iraq. US policy must focus on assuring that all elements of Pakistan’s government are resolute in shutting down the safe havens for al Qaeda and the Taliban. There can be no safehaven for terrorists who threaten the American people. A year ago, I advocated that the US move from a ‘Musharraf policy’ to a ‘Pakistan policy.’ I hope all of Pakistan’s friends will now seize the opportunity created by Musharraf’s exit to focus on the urgent issues of today: confronting the threat of extremist violence, dealing with food and energy shortages, and helping the Pakistani people build a stable, secure, democratic future, ” said Senator Obama.

And whenever an American talks of a stable, secure, democratic future - Layla Anwar gets the shivers...

Obama has long been critical of President Musharraf, most notably in August of 2007, when he said he would be willing to strike al Qaeda targets inside of Pakistan - with or without country’s permission. And last March, Obama accused the Pakistani president of “playing” the U.S. “We were giving him billions of dollars in economic aid, he was using it to repress his own people while trying to cut deals with terrorists.” (source: click here)

Do you believe the ISI is an arm of US / Britich intelligence.

I am right now listening to a website while I came to yer blog.

http://www.infowars.com/listen.html

If interested. go to this website and on the right of the screen it says " Listen to Alex Online". In this section it says, "Select from our Infowars Streams to listen...." Under this I click on "Windows Media Stream".

In about 10 minutes time he gets to the Mumbai issue and he too believes it is a US operation.

Thanks, Layla. Your Hindu friend is right on every count. This entire episode in Mumbai stinks to high heaven. As you may have noted, in the early hours of the attack, the western media had already begun to brainwash people by pointing a finger at Pakistan (read Muslims/Islam). This furious finger pointing has continued to date and Pakistan has already been "accused, condemned and sent to the gallows" by the media. Unfortunately, stupid sheeple in that part of the world already believe that this is the work of Pakistan, never bothering to dig deeper - and almost every home has access to internet.

I agree with your Hindu friend, where he says: "... it is not only Pakistan that is being framed but that India has fallen into the trap as well." India's current government has compromised India's safety and sovereignty by undertaking the agreement with the US - surely, any government in the world worthy of the title would be astute enough to know just what the US really stands for. But then, obviously there's some on the inside who stand to gain much from going to bed with the US. Yes, this is yet another means for the US to make money out of the sale of arms.

In addition, all the nations who were involved with the destruction of Iraq certainly have a hand in the Mumbai incident. If one's observant enough, the writing's on the wall, but people just don't wish to see it. (Read: brainwashing by compromised media, as was the case with Iraq). However, there has been a sprinkling of brave journalists (who are worthy of the title), who have asked many pertinent questions ...

I fear for both Pakistan and India, and pray that both nations will rise above their differences to see exactly what's going on and how everything is being manipulated by enemies of the region.

Even if the terrorists are from Pakistan, any idiot would know that their actions were not sanctioned by Pakistani authorities and that they were acting on their own.

It would be a tragedy if the present tensions between India and Pakistan lead to outright war.

Tell me, is there one damn act of terrorism that you will lay at the feet of Muslims? Are you telling me that they are simply not capable of such an act..that every Muslim is just such a superior human being that it is unthinkable?
Face it guys, so-called muslims kill in the name of their religion all the time. All you do is try to twist things any way you can to blame outsiders for your troubles.
The next thing you will tell me is that it is the Americans fault that the Taliban kill girls for going to school.

This probably was not state sponsored but these killers were from Pakistan. They were Muslims. They are cold blood killers. They caught India will their pants down. This was an unthinkable event carried out by well trained men.

I don't know, I guess Americans should be flattered that their government can manipulate every event on the face of the earth.

You are in as much denial as Americans are.
Anonymous said…
Suzy,

Of course there are good and bad ones among the Muslims as in every other human group.

The problem is, it so "happens" that you Americans always blame and persecute the good Muslims slandering them as "bad", while at the same the time you don't hesitate to go to bed with the REAL bad Muslims (see the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo, see the various Arab vassal governants, not to mention IRAN in anti-Arab function all over the ME) whenever and wherever they serve your interests...

And don't forget that the so-called Al Qaeda was first conceived in a CIA laboratory.
Anonymous said…
Suzy, after all's said and done, the entire world has witnessed genocides committed by the so-called 'Christian' USans in sovereign Muslim lands: Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, etc. How it is possible to twist these FACTS, I really have no idea. Not to mention all the other non-Muslim nations that have been interfered with by the Americans (US).

I don't believe it has been indicated anywhere here that Muslims do not commit crimes - a Muslim is just as capable as a Christian, a Jew or a Hindu. The problem is that, with any event in th world today, long before any evidence is collected, fingers point towards ...Muslims. And those fingers could very easily point towards Christians/Jews/Hindus, etc. It's a well-known fact that India has some of its own home-grown Hindu 'terrorist' groups, who have killed hundreds of Christians and Muslims in the recent past, actually, so couldn't they have well been Hindu? You speak with so much conviction about the perpetrators of this crime in Mumbai being Muslim - it would be nice if you would corroborate this statement with FACTS, not hearsay. If it's from the pictures you've seen, then how do you identify a Muslim from a Hindu/Christian from the subcontinent? Is there a special sign on the person or something indicating he is Muslim, which the rest of us might have missed?

No, Americans should NOT be flattered when others claim that their 'government' manipulates every event on the face of this earth. They really need to be ashamed (because these events cause real deaths and destruction), and as a result of the shame, they need to act on it so that such horrors do not occur any more.

And the last bit of news heard was that US/NATO were bombing villages in Pakistan/Afghanistan resulting in the deaths of those little girls the Taliban did not want to go to school ...

Ive noticed for years now that many Western media types typically use the term/label 'Muslim' in their reporting.

When some incident takes place, the reporter or the the writer may say, " A Muslim man was believed to have ..".

How does a reporter know whether or not a person is Muslim? Do they go around asking the person? Do they go around asking a bystander if the person was Muslim or not? Hel they could be a christians or jew or even an atheist.

I have never seen a report here in the US something like, " A black christian youth assaulted and then raped 2 other christian women. The black christian youth then murdered one while the other escaped. The christian surviver identified the black youth as a christian also.".

How about this? " The christian George W. Bush today, defended his belief that waterboarding is not a form of torture. The christian man, that goes by the name of George Bush, believes it is not important to keep track of the number of Iraqi citizens being killed. ".

I never see the above type of labeling coming from the 'West' towards christian wrongs.

Bin Laden (from the Saudi House) was associated with the Bush family and doing service as a joint CIA and Pakistani SIS agent on the Afghan side in the war against the Sovjet imperialists.. and later on He was accused for the attack on WTC in 9/11.

Bin Laden was the name the US used for an excuse to attack Afghanistan and in a broader sense bring on their imperialistic expansion to the eastern parts of the world.. with a start in the Middle East for two good reasons.. to control the oil and getting the military geopositions.. all to benefit their further expansion against the main eastern countries.

The article below was sent a month ago and is dealing with the matter of strengthening the US "POWERGRIP" on the region Pakistan-Afghanistan.. using their Indiacard!!
(cause as you know India and Pakistan is NOT friends..but in those days they out to be!!!)

The article is adressing the new President Obamas connection to the "wrong"people in India.

http://muslimmatters.org/2008/11/23/an-open-letter-to-sonal-shah-member-of-president-elect-obama%E2%80%99s-transition-advisory-board/

So..
The overall situation is this ..the US economy is really on the down... and if not China, Europe,Iran (just nameing a few ) helps them ...the world financialsystem crasches completely.. since the US dollar is the world currency.

But REALLY !! THE whole situation is made up by that the very global capitalistic systems inherently antgonistic positions can never be solved ...(within the system!!)

The only thing capitalists can do to make money in the end is to go on war and destroy productionforces - that is ..to kill the humanbeings and their competitors in other countries!!...

That is how crazy our historical time is, that we are living in (as Marx put it) in the time of "prehuman" production, which means that we are living in a cruel and nonhuman world..but still for us to take part in.

The Shiites in all those countries you mentioned should "wrong-foot" the US/Iranian schemers simply by identifying with their nationalities (which they share with the Sunnis) rather than their sect.

Why don't they ? Can't they see they are being used as pawns against their own fellow-countrypeople, that this sectarian thing is meant to be a trap for ALL sects, ALL people of the "developing world", to stop its development ? Do they really think that the US/Iran care about them, and won't do away with them once they have completed their "task" ?

I totally agree with the lady of substance- that the writing was on the wall for some time that Pakistan was going to be the next target and those who are familiar with the region knew it all along. The filthy drafts men from America-India and the Israel were busy sketching the new boundaries of the subcontinent in particular Pakistan.

But their plans were thwarted by the shrewd Musharraf who kept ahead of the game by playing a delicate balancing act to keep the enemies at bay. He had many fronts to tackle when he took over the reins of power -the immediate one was the crippling economy -which was looted left and right by the previous regimes - India had deployed its army on the Pakistani borders and the shite pashtuns from the northern frontier who were backed by Iran then later by the Americans -were also insidiously working against the state to rattle its command. After the 9/11 the whole scenario changed and Pakistan somehow escaped unscathed.

The evil contractors of evil wars had to find more land after Iraq to expand their evil plans. So first thing they did was to remove musharraf who was an impending obstacle in their way. Now the stage is set to invade Pakistan- India for some time has been toying with the idea to attack Pakistan but the only problem was that they could not find the architect to convert their drafts into blueprints but finally they have the whole project management team ready- the Americans-Afghanis-Indians –Iranians and the Zionists are on board what an orchestra.

In order to attack Pakistan they had to invent Mumbai 9/11. They Hindu nationalists are executing the orders of the barbarian Americans and the rest -in preparing India to dominate the region and sort out Pakistan later brazen out china. They have penetrated the intelligence-military and the local security apparatus.

They have systematically eliminated over 700 Christians and more than 2500 Muslims. They have erased many historic sites of both the Mughals and the Sultans’ era -one example of this is the Babari Mosque built by the Mughal King Babar in the 16th century before 1940’s-the list is long and time is short. India has also been grooming its own Hindu extremists in order to take charge of the region.

If India does attack Pakistan then it will open a can of worms. There are multiple disgruntled groups within India like the Kashmiris- Muslims - Christians- untouchable Hindus -Sikhs and not to mention the Tamils - who are having a deep seated detestation for having their rights hideously violated.

One prime example is Kashmir which remains subjugated -the Indian army has tortured-killed-raped and maimed scores of Kashmiris. The Security Council declared that the Kashmiris have the right to self determination and they can choose whether to join Pakistan or India. Despite the gross violation of the UN resolution- the security council-western powers and their media including the human rights organizations have turned a blind eye to this gross misconduct of India.

The rebels from the frontiers of Pakistan are fighting the Pakistani army only for one reason- why the state is fighting the war of the Americans. And if Pakistan is attacked by the Indians or the Americans then the tribal chiefs have indicated that they will join hands with the Pakistani security forces to fight the common enemy whoever attacks its sovereignty. China has also assured Pakistan of its undying support because Beijing is aware of the sinister activities in the region.

There are many unanswered questions -why the flourishing business hub of India Mumbai-is placed under siege by handful of gunmen? Why the Indian security machinery arrived at the scene hours late? Why the intelligence director was the first one to be killed? Why did the wife of the deceased intelligence executive refused the compensation offered by the Indian government? And why were the Israeli commandos present on the site?

True Indian Patriots beware of the under hand tactics of the Americans or else you will be left alone to drink the cocktail and there will be no more incredible India.

These Indian military are the same people who just last week fired on a pirate 'mother ship' only to find that the boat was a fishing trawler from Thailand. Their record of correctly IDing the enemy is highly suspect to say the least.

Little Deer, Sindbad, KM, Burnin, anonymous, THESE ARE EXCELLENT REMARKS.

Sindbad, thank you for all the info on Pakistan. I personally never hated Musharraf, for some reason I felt he was being framed but since am not an expet in Pakistani affairs, I did not know all what preceded it. So the clarifcations were great. And you are absolutely right, there are over 10 extremists groups in India, wanting this or the other...Framing muslims and pakistanis in particular is way too easy. The easiness makes it dubious to say the least.

KM,

You have made some very good points on the media representation of Muslims - the eternal bogeyman.
Reading your inverting to saying - christian man did this or that, sounded absurd to me and quite shocking. But somehow everyone is so used to hearing the word muslim this or the other that it is no longer shocking and no one even bothers to point out the blatant stereotype, of which Suzy here is a prime proponent. Thanks for bringing this up- it is most important.

Burnin,

You are correct in pointing out the links between Bin Laden and the US govt. However I really don't think that Binladen is alive and I believe that the US are keeping him alive so they can keep their AL-Qaeda going, hence justifying their"war on terror" which is nothing but as your rightly pointed out, an expansionist foreign policy motivated not only by "production" in the Marxist - Leninist sense, but also the peculiar nature of the American entreprise NEEDS a bogeyman to survive. During the cold war it was the commies, today it is the "muslim terrorists."

However much I dislike Huntington, I do believe that PARTLY this imperialistic foreign policy / not to forget ISRAEL / is also motivated by some "cultural-ideological" impetus that is not solely determined by the "means of production" in a classical Marxist sense.
Layla Anwar said…
Are shiites stupid,

I believe that Shiism as it stands today, not as a personal belief but as a political ideological force is based on Persian chauvinism. In other words, we are witnessing the Iranianization ? of Shiism into some form of indigenous religious-ideological cult divorcing itself from historical Islam. Shiism has existed for centuries, but never has it taken such a dividing role as it has since the fall of Iraq.

Of course the seeds were planted by Khomeinism and it has grown ideologically speaking into a monster, swallowing its own adepts through powerful brainwashing techniques. If you read arabic, try to look at the shiite websites and their blatant sectarianism and their messianic bent. You would think you are reading some born again fundamentalist christian or some hardcore extremists Zionist Jew.

layla, i agree there is lots of fishy stuff.

Four top police officials, including Mumbai Police Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, were among the 11 policemen killed....
Karkare was heading investigations into several recent cases of terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

then there is this

Reuters
Witnesses said the attackers were young South Asian men speaking Hindi or Urdu, suggesting that they were probably members of an Indian militant group rather than foreigners.
India has suffered a wave of bomb attacks in recent years. Most have been blamed on Islamist militants, although police have also suspected Hindu extremists of carrying out some bombings.

this was getting a fair amount of press prior to the lastest bombing, here's newsweek

11/22/08 'police say they recently uncovered possible links between BJP-associated Hindu nationalist organizations and suspected Hindu terrorists—a first for a mainstream Indian party.'

during an election year? bad news

then you google the top anti terrorist cop (Karkare) who was eliminated at the very beginning, and you combine his name w/Hindu extremists..

The last days of Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare were probably some of the busiest in his 26-year career in the Indian Police Service (IPS), and apparently tormented as well.

The ATS believed it had cracked the September 29 Malegaon bomb blast case, and about a month ago arrested Hindu extremists in a breakthrough that shocked the nation and added a new twist to the entire discourse on Terror and religion.

But as the probe unravelled the alleged plot and the role of some Hindu leaders, the case got caught in the politics of terror and the ATS was at the centre of charges that it was being used as a tool to target the Sangh Parivar amid allegations of illegal detention and torture by some of the 11 arrested for the blast.

The BJP, RSS and VHP leaders, among others from the Hindu nationalist brigade, accused the ATS of being on a witch-hunt, with some even demanding that ATS officers be subjected to a narco-analysis to establish their motives.

so, the alleged pakistani muslim terrorists really did a big favor to the hindu extremists and the rightwing BJP when they killed off the anti terrorist expert who just finished arresting 10 hindu terrorists which is not going to be very good in an election year for the BJP.

anyway, they took out the whole squad. shot three top cops dead in a car on their way to the operation. now that is some coordination huh.

another party who gained in the bombing was the US gov who we all know is ready and waiting to go after pakistan... does this justify action that otherwise may not have been convincing enough to the home audiences?

you bet!

Indians are not as dumb as the Iranians, Americans or Israelis - they can hate just as much as the rest, but chose not to hate and prefer not to kill, tend to avoide preachers and politicans who preach hate and genocide to them.

America murdered over 6 million Muslims after 9-11, and Israel will try to make India murdered even more with it's Nazi built propaganda machine, the White hate mongers are going full speed on this but they made the mistake of thinking that Indians are as gullable as they are, they are not.

Pakistan is heading into big trouble, Bush paid their leaders billions in bribes and the idiots took his blood soaked zionist money, and the Paksitan people elected the corrupt Mr. %10 becuase he gets more money, so much of the problem is Paksitan itself - the bombings are typical zionist - but with Paksitan so weak by so much corruption it'll be easy for Israel to make things even worst.

America is playing "Good Cop, Bad Cop" it is doing as much damage as it can while bad little Bush is still in office so good little Obama can play nice - but Obama's admin has Clinton who starved two million Iraqis to death and many other zionists that put even the worst neocons to shame - this is a long range plan - and as the white preacher Rev Rod Parsely said "America was founded to destroy Islam"

This is him, but it is disgusting even for a forked tongued White preacher:

Rod Parsley

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xM85vsYrotY

It's not only Pakistan, it's the whole Muslim world - Vietnam and Korea were destroyed to "stem the tide of Islam", and millions were killed in the Philipines for the same reason - you have to go back a few centuries, the Iranian mullas have build their hate of all Arabs and Iraq in particular for over 300 years, that hate serves their Khomaybe worshiping death squads well.
I've just visited your blog recommended by Peace Man of Gaza. I have read ALL the comments and found them interesting and very intriguing indeed. All that area--India, Paquistan, Afghanistan, Iran-- seems to me like a cricket aviary. I don't know what WE, the normal citizens, can do to stop this barbaric situation. Yes, we can denounce it in our blogs but do you think we will solve something? I wish the whole world would be like Spain in its splendorous Omega era when the three monotheistic religions, Catholicism, Islamic and Jewish lived intelligently well together, (of course until the "old Christians" attacked and expelled the Muslims and Jews. Immense and terrible error). Hugs, M.

The question of whos terrorist was the terrorrists ..or to whom and what it is supposed to give most benefit is the delicat question?

The complexity arises due to all the different partys interest in the more and more tensed powerpressing political situation in the area.

India could benefit on pakistan if it is pakistani muslims behind the operation..then it could just go on accusing pakis for hostilities against Hindus...never forgotten pakistan is a part of India

But again, the US will gain even more, since it now can press on pakistan to move their troops from the paki-india border to the paki-afghan
border cause the terrorists were those raving mad muslims associated with the alQaeda whom got nests in Pakistan and that will not do.

US threats Pakistan if not helping us .. we take you out..

But Pakistan is hardly squeesed well knowing that if they help US in this matter Pakistan will be destroyd forever... cause the Pashtunes NEVER EVER accept US or any other foreign power in Afghanistan.

The Russians and the Chinese are watching very closely how everything goes around.

There are 3 PDF files on this CNN page that expalin part of the American role in gassing the Kurds:

Once-secret Reagan administration documents on Iraq

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/11/20/sbm.documents/index.html

Iran is trying to get one of it's mullahs to rule Pakistan just like Afghaistan and Iraq - a few more "terrorist" attacks on India and Iran's mullas are in, with a little help from Israel on the terrorist of course.

Here is part of why Israel feels the need to destroy Pakistan:

Ben Gurion on Pakistan, published in the Jewish Chronicle, 1967:

"The world Zionist movement should not be neglectful of the dangers of Pakistan to it. And Pakistan now should be its first target, for this ideological State is a threat to our existence. And Pakistan, the whole of it, hates the Jews and loves the Arabs.

"This lover of the Arabs is more dangerous to us than the Arabs themselves. For that matter, it is most essential for the world Zionism that it should now take immediate steps against Pakistan.

"Whereas the inhabitants of the Indian peninsula are Hindus whose hearts have been full of hatred towards Muslims, therefore, India is the most important base for us to work therefrom against Pakistan.

"It is essential that we exploit this base and strike and crush Pakistanis, enemies of Jews and Zionism, by all disguised and secret plans."

Not sure if this was published in US newspapers but commondreams did have it. Its a joint statement by a group of people from India and Pakistan. Hope these people are given more powers to bring peace to their people!

A Statement by Concerned Citizens of India and Pakistan
The truth about who are directly involved in this brutal incident and who could be the culprits behind the scene is yet to come out and we do not wish to indulge in any guesswork or blame game at this point. However, one is intrigued at its timing. Can it be termed a coincidence that it has happened on the day the Home Secretaries of the two countries concluded their talks in Islamabad and announced several concrete steps to move forward in the peace process, such as the opening of several land routes for trade - Kargil, Wagah-Attari, Khokhropar etc -, relaxation in the visa regime, a soft and liberal policy on the issue of release of prisoners and joint efforts to fight terrorism? Again, is it just a coincidence that on this fateful day the Foreign Minister of Pakistan was in the Indian capital holding very useful and productive talks with his Indian counterpart? One thing looks crystal clear. The enemies of peace and friendship between the two countries, whatever be the label under which they operate, are un-nerved by these healthy developments and are hell bent on torpedoing them.

We are of the considered opinion that the continued absence of peace in South Asia - peace between and within states - particularly in relation to India and Pakistan , is one of the root causes of most of the miseries the people of the region are made to endure. It is the major reason why our abundantly resource-rich subcontinent is wallowing in poverty, unemployment, disease, and ignorance and why militarism, religious and sectarian violence and political, economic and social injustice are eating into the very vitals of our societies, even after more than six decades of independence from colonial rule.

At this moment of unmitigated tragedy, the first thing we call upon the Governments of India and Pakistan to do is to acknowledge the fact that the overwhelming majority of the people of India and Pakistan ardently desire peace and, therefore, the peace process must be pursued with redoubled speed and determination on both sides.

We urge upon the governments of India and Pakistan to immediately take the following steps:

1. Cessation of all hostile propaganda against each other;
2. Joint action to curb religious extremism of all shades in both countries;
3. Continue and intensify normalization of relations and peaceful resolution of all conflicts between the two countries;
4. Facilitation of trade and cooperation between the two countries and in all of South Asia . We welcome the fact that the Srinagar-Muzaffarab ad and Poonch-Rawlakot borders have been opened for trade and that the opening of the road between Kargil and Skardu is in the pipeline.
5. Immediate abolition of the current practice of issuing city-specific and police reporting visa and issue country-valid visa without restrictions at arrival point, simultaneously initiating necessary steps to introduce as
early as possible a visa-free travel regime, to encourage friendship between the peoples of both countries;
6. Declaration by India and Pakistan of No First Use of atomic weapons;
7. Concrete measures towards making South Asia nuclear-free;
8. Radical reduction in military spending and end to militarisation.

In the previous link they refer to many positive steps that was happening between India and Pakistan. Ad to that, during the weekend before the attack we had people from India and Pakistan summarising the final deals for the IPI gas pipeline from Iran to Pakistan and India. Lots of hope was given to this too, by improving economic and political ties for the region.

Nadia, thanks for sharing that information with all of us. It is very important. More than ever before, the people of Pakistan and India, together with their respective Governments, need to stand united at this hour when dark forces stand in the wings to destroy both nations.

I've just visited the link you've posted and sincerely feel that it is the best thing we've seen in the past couple of days as far as the two neighbours are concerned. May these two groups of signatories get all the support they need and may their call for peace come to fruition.

In addition, I've also come across this online petition:

Mumbai: We will not be divided
http://www.avaaz.org/en/india_undivided/

I've noted that Avaaz is also campaigning for Iraq ...

I'm a good friend of Merche Pallares and i'm very interested while I'm reading your Blog. You're right at all and I think the same about the interests of the USA...and their "modus operandi"

Snoozer...excuse me but "Vietnam and Korea were destroyed to "stem the tide of Islam"??

Exactly where are you getting your facts?

Merche, Selma,

Hello, welcome and thank you for visiting my blog. I do not know who Peace man of Gaza is, do you have a link by any chance ?
Merche, am glad you mentioned the Andalusian period before its fall 1492. Very few people are really aware of the great strides achieved during this period. It was indeed the golden age.
As regards your question, what we can do ? We do what we can. Drop by drop and the ocean is made of zillions of drops...
Regards to both of you.

Nadia, Snoozer, Little Deer and Burnin,

Thanks for your inputs, even though I am not sure I agree with everything Snoozer says, and thanks for the links.
Bless you all.
Thank you for all your replies, I like your blog very much so I'll keep visiting. Actually I got your link from one of the bloggers who replied to Peace Man. It's a very interesting blog written by Peace Man from Gaza and Hope Man from Sderot (Israel). gaza-sderot.blogspot.com. They don't write very often but, when they do, we get quite an insight of what's going on in that area. I hope you like it. Hugs, M.

There is more evidence that the Mumbai terrorists came from Pakistan than there was that Osama Bin Laden was behind 9/11.

The Pakistani Army/ISI has been trying to breakup India with terrorist attacks for many years (it is not only Islamic/Kashmiri terrorists, the ISI has supported sikhs also).

But India should not make the same mistake as the US after 9/11 and should show more restraint.

Already Pakistan is falling apart as a nation. In a few years it will break up into 3 or more countries (like Yugoslavia) - a Pashtunistan, a Baluchistan, a Sind and a PakPunjab. If India takes any overt action, this would just unite the Pakistanis and delay the breakup.

Best thing is to let the US handle the terrorists and watch Pakistan fall to pieces on its own

In any case Pakistan has its own karma to reckon with, see http://www.sentfotlife.com/karma.html?Pakistan
