To the Iraqi Resistance.

"Al Roa3t wal Nar"
New song by Iraqi Singer Kazem al Saher.
"Roa3t" means hordes of barbarians and "nar" means fire.
The rest is self explanatory.

(Unfortunately, I have no time to translate the lyrics- enjoy the music though and the images!)

Nice. Haunting.

Thank you, Layla, for providing us with this music video. Important messages can be relayed through music, as does this, particularly to the young. As Arkbuilder says above - the word 'haunting' is appropriate.

Kazem is serving his country well and deserves much respect. His music is very beautiful...and he is cute!

U.S. Warns Iran to Back Down
By JIM KRANE
Associated Press Writer

A second U.S. aircraft carrier strike group now steaming toward the Middle East is Washington's way of warning Iran to back down in its attempts to dominate the region, a top U.S. diplomat said here Tuesday.

Nicholas Burns, U.S. undersecretary of state for political affairs, ruled out direct negotiations with Iran and said a rapprochement between Washington and Tehran was "not possible" until Iran halts uranium enrichment.

"The Middle East isn't a region to be dominated by Iran. The Gulf isn't a body of water to be controlled by Iran. That's why we've seen the United States station two carrier battle groups in the region," Burns said in an address to the Dubai-based Gulf Research Center, an influential think-tank.

"Iran is going to have to understand that the United States will protect its interests if Iran seeks to confront us," Burns continued.

Iran is in a standoff with the West over its defiance of U.N. demands to halt uranium enrichment, which can produce fuel for both nuclear energy and nuclear weapons. Iran says its atomic program is aimed solely at generating energy, but the United States and some of its allies suspect it is geared toward making weapons. The U.N. imposed limited sanctions on Iran last month.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused the United States Tuesday of stirring up conflict between rival Muslim sects to maintain U.S. influence in the Middle East.

"The U.S. intends to cause insecurity and dispute and weaken independent governments in the region to continue with its dominance over the Middle East and achieve its arrogant goals," Ahmadinejad said during a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem.

"The U.S. and Zionist regime have a conspiracy to stir up conflict between Shiite and Sunni Muslims in order to plunder the wealth of the regional nations," the president said, according to the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency, or IRNA.

Ahmadinejad said last week that Iran is "ready for anything" in its confrontation with the United States.

Iran conducted missile tests on Monday, the first of five days of military maneuvers southeast of Tehran. The Islamic republic also barred 38 inspectors from the U.N. nuclear watchdog - the International Atomic Energy Agency, prompting fears that it was seeking to restrict access to its facilities.

"This is obviously not a sign of goodwill, nor a sign of willingness to cooperate with the international community," French Foreign Ministry spokesman Jean-Baptiste Mattei told reporters Tuesday.

Ali Larijani, Iran's top nuclear negotiator, said Tuesday that the decision had been misintepreted and that there had been no change in Iran's cooperation with the IAEA.

"The issue is not the way the media has reflected it," Larijani was reported as saying by IRNA.

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates has said the U.S. buildup in the Gulf was intended to impress on Iran that the four-year war in Iraq has not made America vulnerable.

The American aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis and several accompanying ships are heading toward the Gulf to join an aircraft carrier group already in the region, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. The Stennis is expected to arrive in late February.

The Stennis's arrival in the Middle East will mark the first time since the U.S.-led Iraq invasion in 2003 that the United States has had two carrier battle groups in the region.

The U.S. Navy said Tuesday that the minesweeper USS Gladiator arrived in the Persian Gulf, one of six such ships - four American, two British - now plying the Gulf for anti-ship mines. U.S. officials have long said Iran was likely to block busy Gulf shipping lanes in a conflict.

Some among the audience of Dubai-based diplomats and analysts complained that American wars in the Middle East were already threatening the region's stability and asked Burns to sort out Iraq and the Israel-Palestinian conflict before turning attention to Iran.

"What we are not interested in is another war in the region," Mohammed al-Naqbi, who heads the Gulf Negotiations Center, told Burns. "Iraq is your problem, not the problem of the Arabs. You destroyed a country that had institutions. You handed that country to Iran. Now you are crying to Europe and the Arabs to help you out of this mess."

Dear Ike,

I will try summarize my opinion and back it with evidence. I will not be able to provide you with links here because there is something very wrong with cut and paste on this blog.
1) Iran has regional ambitions.
Iraq used to be a regional power before it was brought to its knees..and they are still trying notice!
Iran wants to become THE regional power in the Middle East. And that is not new. If you read history , you will see that the Persians like others had empires and strove very hard to keep them and expand.
2) Getting back to the present.
I re-assert that there will be no attack on Iran DESPITE all the propaganda and for the following reasons and please remember am no a military strategist, just someone that reads closely the news and between the lines.
a) the US has over 150'000 of its men in Iraq, with the majority concentrated in Baghdad.
b) the US relies heavily on the cooperation of the IRANIAN backed Govt in Baghdad.
c) The Iraqi puppet govt including its militas have made it VERY CLEAR that they will not allow a strike on Iran.
d)imagine there is an attack on Iran, what will the americans in Baghdad do? Fight all of the Iraqis and their militias? They are already having a tough time after 4 years controlling Baghdad alone!
hence the surge of an additional american force.
e)on the arab front:
- no country in the arab world is willing to go through another war at this moment even though they are weary of Iran's rising power through Syria and Lebanese events.
- the US needs some official backing at least in words and I doubt very much the rest of the Arab world will provide it for an attack on Iran. A strike on Iran will mean a full fledge war in the whole of the M.E.
f) on the iranian front:
- statements from Ali Larjani and I linked it in my previous post says that US is just engaging in a show of force. I need to remind you that there are russian and chinese submarines in the caspian sea too.
- Today Ahmadinajad president of Iran, is not only facing internal criticism but also derided american war efforts , saying it is all bluff!!!
g) on the american front:
Within the US.
- G.Bush is at an all time low accorind to polls at 30% only!
- there is a split within the republican party itself and even republicans have started voicing their strong doubts against Bush( read the latest commentary after the Bush address to the union)
- the Democratic party said it will NOT allow a surge in troops and will stop it by all means.
- within the military, there is a lack of moral and many soldiers are voicing their dissent.
-the US according the latest polls have become the most unpopular country in the world. Meaning the international community will very likely dissaprove and stop yet another attack in the ME even though they may not like Iran per se.
- yesterday a reuters report from the American military stated that that Iraq has hurt the American military in carrying out more attacks . See the article on www.uruknet.info/
- and last but not least

THE IRAQI RESISTANCE HAS MADE IT VERY HARD FOR AMERICA TO HURT IRAN..AND THE IRANIANS NEED TO THANK US FOR THAT.

I hope I answered some of your queries.
All the best
God bless

Layla,
Yes. You gave good answers and information.
And I agee it would be a slaughter if Iran attacked the US in Baghdad. And I can understand the Iraq puppet government NOT allowing harm to Iran. I was shocked when the Iranian men were captured in Iraq, accused of being militia supporters, and then released back to Iran. This was BEFORE the raid on the Iranian embasy thing.

If you get a chance answer me this.
IS Iran supporting militias?
Because if so, how can this end without confrontation?
True Iraq forbids it, but USA refuses to talk with Iran?

It is juust confusing to me and to hear you explain helps. Culturally.

Also, I was aware of the China prescence, and politically speaking they are tighter with Russia than USA. China also depends, from what I read, on Iraqi oil. This just furthers my curiosity because they (china) dont want to loose the oil and the shooting down of that sattalite has also stirred rumor in USA. Rumor that China is of course with Iran. And I KNOW Russians. They are against USA as well.

This is all news...mostly underground, but not all, because mainstream is so directed and controlled. This is what we hear in USA.

I did watched the "state of the union" speach last night by bush monkey. His words were a dance of lies. Obvious to me, and thakfully, several members of the US Congress and senate. Some members are VERY vocal and angry now. And this is good to me. The bad news is the Bush monkey is ignoring them (for now) and SERIOUSLY seems to be in HIS OWN WORLD. Like he actually has no idea.

Thanks for your candid reply to my questions Layla, I do appreciate it.

I have more for later :)

Stay safe.
God bless.

Hi Ike,

To answer your question, Yes Iran supports the following militias who are part and parcel of the so called Iraqi puppet Govt.
1) Al -Mahdi militias fully backed and funded by Iranian hardliners in Teheran
2) Al Badr group of Al Hakim, fully supported, backed, funded and trained in Iran and closer to the curent govt in Teheran.
3) Al Maghawir - the militia of the ministry of interior, fully backed, supported and trained by Teheran.

The US knows this . It knew this since 2003 when Chalabi brought his militias on american tanks.
The US knows this when they deal with the Maliki govt and Al Hakim.
So NO there will be no confrontation between Militias and US forces in Iraq , nor will they be a confrontation between Iran and the US.
Best
