This is a rushed post. These are the latest news from Iraq and its "elections". I will start with a very important piece of info first. 1) The Iraqi army has encircled Adhamiya and closed all the neighborhood entries and exits... The official government version is to help curtail the spread of "armed groups planning "terrorist activities..." The people of Adhamiya say, on the other hand that they are being "punished" for having voted exclusively for the secular and nationalist list of Al-Iraqiya. 2) Very strong explosions were heard in the Shaab neigbhorhood, in Tujar street. No further information was given. 3) On the election front, a partial result representing an average of 30% of total votes, shows that and as expected Maliki's State of Law Coalition is leading in the Southern provinces and that Al-Iraqiya of Ayad Allawi is leading in the "predominantly Sunni" provinces in the Center of the country. This is not a letter of resignation --not yet. Just a short note to self stating  if any of the nationalists, seculars, form an alliance with the sectarian parties of INA -- I am going to stop blogging about Iraq. I may still may post an article or two, on social issues and the unending consequences of this cursed American Iranian occupation, on women, on thousands of refugees in a limbo, on rampant poverty, on disabled and maimed people from too much liberation, on birth defects due to DU since it's going to stay with us for centuries -- contaminating land and water, on Iraqi history and its beautiful destroyed archeology...but I will not invest myself no more... And that is not because I don't love Iraq the land, the country, but it's because am sick and tired of Iraqis...I had given up hope ages ago on useless, deceitful, hypocritical Americans and Brits, I have an inkling of hope left in Iraqis. UPDATE 2 : As predicted -- and despite all  the sure initial indications by observers from the voting polls, who confirmed again and again that the nationalist, secular bloc was winning in most provinces...today both the shameless, cheap, worthless BBC and Al-Jazeera English to name a few are already harping on the sectarian parties leading the way, namely that of Maliki. For all intents and purposes, because I go after information, and I dig for them, I watched Ayad Allawi's interview on Inside Iraq . And important information was leaked during this 22 mn interview, which I have already covered in my previous posts on the same topic - namely a wide campaign of arrests and killings took place just before the 7th of March. Moreover Allawi confirmed what we've been saying all along, there will be and there is Fraud taking place, tampering with the elections results.
