All you need to know about me is that I am a Middle Easterner, an Arab Woman - old enough to know better. I have no homeland per se...All the rest is icing on the cake. And in those rare seconds of insights one is shown the world. And what you see is Truth. The world is a mental asylum in a huge garden. Every single person in that garden believes they are sane when in fact he /she is in a mental asylum.

And like any mental asylum it has sections - section A, section B, section C .etc...
These sections are what you call - continents.
And within this sections just like in a mental asylum there are Units . Unit 1, unit 2, unit 3..
These are what you call in your language -- countries.
And within these units you have the rooms and in the rooms are the patients.

And just like in a mental asylum, they allowed out depending on the severity of their cases.
Some are encouraged to make friends meet other people marry , some are encouraged to study, some are told to seek occupational therapy what you call work others are told to engage in play therapy or art therapy or music therapy. and on certain days of the year they encouraged to go on trips to explore other sections of the mental asylum. And on weekends they may stroll in the pretty grounds of the mental asylum it has grass trees birds rivers ponds.
All the patients believe they are free -- that is their mental illness when in fact they are in a mental asylum.
Is there a cure ?
Am not sure it is curable as such - even the doctors on the wards are mental themselves.

So you believe you are sane -- are you ?Layla Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08450953328181838692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31554268.post-12873831679202590322020-01-09T19:12:00.001+00:002020-01-09T20:42:03.001+00:00USA Iran Iraq and the clowns of Left Leanings. Nothing I say or write must be taken in absolute terms. Why ? Because I myself don't take myself absolutely seriously...and that for "philosophical" reasons.

Cut the chase as the Yankees say -- so I will cut the chase and get to the meat.

Am here again...

Am here again because I been banned from the Social media platform I use. I haven't stop writing except in a lazy way -- not that am intellectually lazy myself -- people are lazy very lazy with short attention spans . 140 characters is all they can handle and even that proves too much -- because most of the time they too fucking engrossed in their own navel -- Narcissism of the most blatant type is the ordre du Jour.

So I don't take being excluded/ banned very well. I say what I have to say.
Mind you it won't be something terribly new -- but it is a confirmation of what I have said before -- the liberals progressives left leanings are the most politically disgraceful hypocrites around. Of that am now 100% certain.

Hence I took a huge distance from their ideological constructs -- and as always Iraq been my teacher at all times.

So let's start with what appears as the personal to get to the meat . That should not sound too alien for the lefties since they always stress that the personal is indeed political ...Feminists and al...#Barf.

The Twitter social media platform has become a policeman for the liberals...the politically correct constipated lot who can't think or more aptly refuse to think outside the box --- in other words refuse to see FACTS.

So I was banned from Twitter because I replied to a general insult from some Shias not on me personally but on the Sahaba -- the Companions of Habib Allah Sayyedi Mohamed.

My reply was and I stand by it -- that Shiism is an ideology for retards.
Twitter considered that very offensive and gave me two options :
I either withdraw my tweet because it violated the "race class religious bla bla bla bla " constructs and was "abusive" or I remain banned for ever and ever --- and remain an observer of that great cesspool called Twitter -- mind you the whole virtual world is a cesspool --- a replica of the real world.
Moreover as form of "punishment" to teach me a "lesson" Twitter not only banned me but contrary to its own rules would not even allow me to read Twitter feed --news etc nor send personal Messages even though it says in its "policies" that these are the only liberties am allowed in my confinement cell.

And by withdrawing my tweet am acknowledging that I have "violated" -- strong word that word Violated the rules of that leftie leaning policeman.
The rules of conduct it is called. As if I were in some fucking army -- well it is an army --an online army that determines who gets to say what and when.

Twitter or their rules of conduct don't seem to mind that Historical and Religious figures who changed the map of the world are regularly called the most abominable names...like Abu Bakr and Omar -- for me they are not dead ... I do not believe in Death -- they are very much alive.

So this "essay" will comprise 3 parts now that I have exposed that garbage called Twitter or the real face of Social Media.

the 1st part will tackle Shiism as an Ideology -- as a political ideology to be precise
the 2nd part will tackle Current Events -- USA Iran/ IRAQ in short.
the 3rd part will be a conclusion -- not that anything will ever be conclusive in this part of the world but a conclusion nonetheless.

Political Shiism and its veracity ?

One question I want to start with because in the Question is found the Answer.
What has political shiism as exported by and from Iran and that since 1979 achieved so far ?
Yes what has it achieved in Iraq in Lebanon in Yemen in Bahrain in Syria ?
I will focus on Iraq because this is who I care about the most.
It has managed nothing but DIVISIONS
We just talking ideological level now -- am not even going to broach the MALIGNANT nature of that political shiism nor will I even get into what have the Shia parties from Iran done to Iraq as in GOOD - forget the sunnis ---forget the non shias --- focus on the ARAB Shias of Iraq themselves.

The answer is NO GOOD came from them. They spread corruption embezzlement tortures and killings.

So from a purely Islamic point of view this ideology even if cloaked in islamic terminology MUST BE REJECTED by Muslims be it Shias or Sunnis.

Conclusion for this part -- NO GOOD came from Iran and its proxies in the region.
This neighboring country this so called neighbor has been no good of a neighbor. It is a THUG of a neighbor. Had it been a good neighbor with good intentions it could have played it differently - it could have said to itself --
The Americans offered me Iraq on a silver platter -- if I want to make it workout for me I will make it work out for them Iraqis -- again forget sunnis -- at least for the shias themselves, my own sect.

But this is NOT what happened. How do I know that ? because the majority of unarmed Iraqi protesters of which 500 were killed were shias themselves. Those who protested were Shias themselves who NO LONGER ACCEPT IRAN and ITS MULLAHS and ITS PARTIES and ITS MILITIAS to direct their lives.

So from all angles and whichever angle you look at it -- Iran and its political Shiism has been hugely detrimental to the IRAQI people.

The anti war and the lefties are so fucking stupid and dumb and of bad faith that for them IRAQ is Iran.
IRAQ is NOT A COLONY of IRAN and WE REFUSE to BE A COLONY of IRAN.

Iraq Iran are TWO distinct countries and this highly malicious move on the part of the liberals democrats progressives to conflate the two is nothing and I mean nothing but the dirtiest kind of political opportunism I have ever witnessed in politics.

I have much to say about Arabs so called liberals and in particular the liberal Palestinians but I will not right now because I really want to keep the focus on IRAQ ---and little did I know every time those hypocrites get another fig leaf it falls again. Uncovered is the exact word.

So when Trumposhti - Yes I call him Trumposhti decided to get rid of this killer torturer heretic cultist sectarian persian chauvinist called Soleimani and his minion the dwarf of Iran al Muhandis - IRAQIS were elated. This guy Soleimani (whose daughter has an american passport by the way -- who knows maybe thanks to Obama or Bush) was the commander in chief of the policies of massive sectarian cleansing in IRAQ and in SYRIA .

Needless to say it is totally normal that we should celebrate a killer who will meet his Maker and give explanations as to why in the name of some Islam this psychopathic maniac from Iran oversaw torture and killing sprees of other Muslims. (another nail in the coffin of political shiism )

It was a very good move on the part of Trump -- sure it may have consequences -- maybe beyond the immediate theatrical reactions of Iran hitting the US airbases in Iraq --and knowing Iran and no one knows Iran like the Iraqis do ... oh man we know it so well --- better than any intel gathering service -- it will not stop undermining.. until it reaches its imperial goal that of the Hysterical Borderline Sado Masochistic Heretic Matron of the Region.

It is still a wait and see -- however in that waiting and in that seeing -- I will reiterate what I have said in the past on this blog -- wherever there is a Shia minority -- Iran will try to drive a wedge in order to take over . I still mention Pakistan and am adamant about mentioning Pakistan.

As for that Ukrainian flight that took off from Iran and "crashed" not long after take off and whose black boxes Iran refuses to hand over to Ukraine -- It would not surprise me one bit that Iran would be capable of such an abominable act.

Why would it need to do such a thing ?
A message -- to all aviation.
A message to the United States (all aviation was suspended over the Gulf region)
A message from Putin and a thank you to Putin.
Notice Putin was on a tour of Syria lighting candles in Damascus with Bashar in a Church at the same time.

I stop now -- I stop now because the horrors of the "human" nafs the human ego self that is now ruling the world with its most evil inclinations is master to whom many lives must be sacrificed for it to keep ruling.

Help us GOD ALLAH and protect us with Your Shielding Might and Power.

These countries were/are Yemen, Turkey, PAKISTAN Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
The ones who designed the fall of Iraq into Darkness in 2003, are the same ones who are designing the tearing apart the dismantling of the above mentioned countries. Do I have to name them for you again and again and again ? THINK.

ISIL is nothing but a weapon, a weapon of mass destruction, a mean to an end.

Still no one knows who ISIL is...you speculate, and you keep speculating, and in these speculations, arms are sold, countries are destroyed and lives are snatched.

ISIL are land mappers, their caliphate is the caliphate of the Anti Christ. Who is the anti Christ ?
Well you got to answer that one, if you can answer that one, you will know who ISIL is. The Anti Christ has many agents working for him by the way, not just ISIL, again you need to THINK.

Myopia requires that one looks at one tree and forgets the forest. Same with ISIL, they look at the young delinquent recruits averaging an age of not more than 25, dissatisfied, lost in depression, alienation and suddenly latch on to something that gives them meaning and promises them Paradise, Bliss.... You are only seeing one tree you don't see the forest. Myopia.

Who moves ISIL, who orders ISIL, what has ISIL achieved for MUSLIMS, for ISLAM, for MOHAMMED is the Question.

Come on it is so simple....so obvious.Layla Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08450953328181838692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31554268.post-71938446964757193412017-02-15T14:33:00.001+00:002017-02-15T14:33:07.059+00:00#Trumposhti Trumposhti is a term of Arabic endearment that I HAVE COINED (don't go stealing it) to call the new President of the United States of America - Trump.
I actually like the guy, believe it or not.
First of, he makes me laugh. And I can do with some humor.
Bush was/is a moron and Obama a lousy charlatan snake charmer. So Trump is a breath of fresh air.
Furthermore, I wanted to make sure I had not fallen into some ideological right wing snare, so I went around and asked people what they thought of Trumposhti.
And to my great surprise, people were fine with him. Not that they really cared about the USA, they don't, understandably so, but they were fine with him.
The overwhelming response I received was --- " At least he is clear".
And in an age of universal deceit, clarity is not such a bad thing.

Layla Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08450953328181838692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31554268.post-65888849484549120662016-08-08T01:02:00.003+01:002016-08-08T13:00:02.761+01:00A Deep Malaise...

Here is this Insomniac, with yet another cup of bitter coffee, overtaken by a deep malaise.

As I made sure, my mom was in her bed and not slouching on the sofa, I was reflecting on how difficult old age must be.

Then one thought took me to another...first the elderly, a very neglected group worldwide, more than children, also a group who suffers much taunting and different forms of abuse, from psychological to physical either by caretakers, in hospices, in hospitals, in pensioners homes, in "mouroirs" ....and obviously in war zones, victims of violence, brutality, loss, displacement and endless grief.

And another thought took me to another .. from how difficult it is to become old and fragile, vulnerable, to the difficulty of living in general.

I see it on people's faces, in what they fail, omit to say, in their sighs, in the brave fronts they put up, in their escapism, in their outbursts, in their withheld rage, in their pleas, in their race towards something so elusive they can't even define it.

And another thought took me to another...

Is this just a foretaste of the new world order ? Where most can't make ends meet apart from those living in bubbles, where most struggle daily to keep some invisible lid on ...lid on what ? an implosion ? an explosion ?

Is this the new world order of people losing their minds, breaking down or burning out ...or is it the pace, the intensity of the pace, the rush hour, the whirling madness of "getting things done" before, before what ? before an apocalypse ?

Is this the new world order where people drown themselves in ideologies, celebrities, tv screens, reality shows, cyber space, the delirium of religious dogma, drugs, booze, sex, porn...

Is this the new world order of broken identities, uprootedness, loss of meaning, a nihilism so pervasive , a make believe of normality...

Is this the new world order, where everything is fast; fast love, fast sex, fast food, fast consumption , fast cars, fast vacations, fast processors, fast enlightenment, fast guns....the gobbling up of what ?

Is this the new world order, a tall order of mediocrity and intellectual poverty ? Where everything has become difficult; from social relations, to family relations, to finances, to living conditions, to living environment, to living pace, to cities that can't breathe no more, to trees that can't breathe no more, to skies that can't breathe no more,...

The new world order of over stimulation; false needs, false desires, false successes, false priorities, false relations, false selves....where all is processed beforehand, pre-packed and pre-conditioned .

No wonder I feel this deep malaise, no wonder I feel it in the atmosphere, in everything around me, in the streets, in the mosques, in the churches, in the malls, in the souks, in the offices, in the neighborhoods, in each and every single one....

As for those who live in bubbles, well you know what bubbles do don't you ?

Do I have a solution ?

Yes, in a way I do. Stick to the simple things in the Present...because all the rest is just a question of survival.Layla Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08450953328181838692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31554268.post-37912487247090588692016-07-31T15:02:00.000+01:002016-07-31T17:01:09.772+01:00Homecoming - Split in Two.

Hello Blog, long time, been two years, did not miss you much, missed Iraq though, the Iraq of my memories, niched somewhere refusing to be forgotten.

I do not miss the current Iraq, it's gone to the dogs, split in two, three and maybe even four.

Talking about splits. Remember that thing I devoted a whole post in its "honor". if you click on the link, you will get to see its "beautiful face". Anyway I received this from it dated 8 July 2016 (here is its 2 minutes of online fame)

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif; font-size: 17.6px;">"I hope someone sticks in sword in your rotten vagina and splits you in two.

<span style="font-family: "calibri" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Ive decided that its been a while since you have been degraded . I plan for you an online equivalent of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo all rolled in one ....stay tuned."

What better way to write again, without this lovely invitation ?

Not that I wish to beef up that thing, beef up the inexistent part, that need beefing up and sexing up to use Tony Blair words before the United States and not so Great Britain decided to rape Iraq and split it in two or three or four.

Maybe I am after all, Iraq's Vagina. The Iraq's Vagina in the collective unconscious of Cyber space. Maybe my Iraqi Vagina, is the lieu where all lust and death meet, where transcendence happens, where living animals get ejaculated, propelled, like missiles, in search of an ovum, a territory to fecundate, into a new world order. Giving birth to the New Middle East, the Birth Pangs in blood with no Cesarean.

Cesarean, you call them in America, C-section, possibly because you can't pronounce Cesarean. Maybe in your immense knowledge Cesarean means to you Caesar as in Caesar Salad. Forget Caesar the Emperor, am not counting on you for History.

Iraq and my Vagina are to be split in two, My Iraqi Vagina is to be split in two. Why persevere ? It already happened. I delivered in C-Sections....cretinous cunt sections....each section has its own cretinous cunt...tiny emperors emerged from my Iraqi vagina, with the charisma of fleas...fleas gathering on dead corpses, carcasses so putrid, so rotten that even vultures wish not to approach.

What are you persevering for ? There must be something more, something else ....It must be that this Iraqi territorial vagina is so tasty, or that it holds more treasures, that you haven't managed to reach...and maybe will never reach.

All this lust and death impulses in vain, no transcendence for you...however hard you try.

Iraq will forever elude you, missiles, bombs and all....you have not penetrated its soul, for its soul is a fortress, a vagina within a vagina...and its womb a caldron, that will burn whoever nears it without reverence.

This is the Hell that is Iraq to use Saddam's final words...a hell you haven't fully tasted yet.

P.S : Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo are just appetizers, a foretaste for you... Enjoy.
hahaha

Hello darkness my old friend,I came to talk with you again...because a vision softly creeping, left its seeds while I was sleeping and the vision that was planted in my brain, still remains, within the sound of silence.

I came to disturb the sound of silence.

I love disturbing people...I was always told that I was a nuisance. I lived up to the expectations of me.

Silence as a cancer grow...

I can assure you, you have tumors growing in you, the size of grapefruits...

Why you hate grapefruits ?

I was told am a nuisance...I just love annoying you...in between the soda and popcorn breaks...

What ? am I to announce my own funeral -so you can rest in peace ?

Would you like to see the last living one of us signing her own death warrant ? Am sure you would, in between breaks of soda and popcorn...

I love the way my words pop don't you ? I love popping them like corn on a hot stove

Just to remind you of the sound of silence.

I need not explain much, as I have already explained much in the past.
You are the ones who will be doing much explanation on the Day of Reckoning.
You don't have to watch the testimonies of the living, if you don't want to, if you can't spare your precious empty time, a time devoid of substance...
But you are being watched, observed....and all is transcribed, noted down, recorded...all. And even if your consciences are dead, there is the One that is Alive and never dies.

I bend, yield, like bamboo that seeks growth in mud water...that's my nature.

I also lose passwords in the mud...trying to survive the mud. You must have a password...or you can't get through...I have a password and I keep loosing it, or it keeps being changed.

I am told to write, when my muse left me in the mud...I am told -- write anyway...
tell them, while bent, about willow trees...weeping willows and weeping widows...
tell them about orphaned girls
tell them about the severity of life and the severity of survival...
tell them, for they are a people living in satin like...illusions.

Tell them...and dig stories out of your old ragged sack
tell them when it is not satin nor velvet
tell them...for passwords are meant for all.
Today is Valentine's and this is the sectarian Shiite government of Maliki demonstration of love for the Iraqi people.

This is a rushed translation. I have translated the gist. An Iraqi man with his family, has his home bombed destroyed. including all electrical outlets, (electricity is still a big deal in Iraq 11 years on and to get electricity you have to invest much in terms of money and ingenuity to get an electrical current).

Furthermore this man has disabled children - he points to the wheel chair. His house is now unlivable, he has to leave - exiled within his own country.

Here is the translation :

Maliki - you coward, may God debase you. Today is Friday, you destroyed our electricity, why, what have we done to you, you burnt our electrical outlet, we are also muslims.

You coward, you unbeliever, you Farissi (Persian), you apostate.

The Feminine is considered a "recipient", you know, that womb, uterus that will carry, bear it and endure...labor pangs and all....sacrifice, self effacement, selflessness for the "greater good".

The Feminine, the land that is "toiled" like a field...the earth, the ground where you plant seeds that sprout...

The Feminine - The dumping ground ?

Seems it is so.

I liken Iraq to the Feminine, in its rather simplistic and vulgar definition as in above...This is where all the syphilitic vultures dump their violence.

Today, a female TV presenter was shot dead in Mosul, she was just reporting...

Yesterday, the day before yesterday and the months before yesterday and the years before yesterday, Iraqi women have been the "recipient" of Violence, male violence.

Whether this violence came in the form of a US missile, an AK47, a gun, a knife, a cane or an actual penis, it does not really matter, it is all Phallic violence.

One Iraqi woman aptly described it as "living in a jungle ruled by men", (article here on the increase of violence against Iraqi women and the male government's refusal to do anything about it). Adding, if shelters were constructed, the government fears that a great number of women will leave their "families".

Phallic violence --- the verticality of it all, that turns you into a horizontal position...ultimately horizontally laid to rest...in a coffin, and if you manage to escape the fate of a coffin, you are still horizontally laid to rest, unable to vertically stand on your own two feet, paralyzed by the experience.

Iraq as exemplified by its women, has become the Dumping Ground, ever since its "liberation".

Usually when one thinks of "liberation", one imagines someone in shackles, squatting in a cell, chained, unable to stand, unable to move, suddenly transformed into this free being, who gets up, breaks free and runs, runs, with her two legs...jumps up and down with joy, walks forward with enthusiasm and hope, with dreams about to be fulfilled...

Does Iraq fit the imaginary liberation picture above ? Does She fit the US promises embodied in that "grand" statue of Liberty, a woman holding a torch, erected tall, above the grounds ?

Tens years on, the shackles have become stronger, the chains thicker, the cells darker.

So I took time to reflect, divorcing the personal from the political -- as impassively as possible, as unbiasedly as possible, as impartially as possible, as dispassionately as possible, as objectively as possible, all those words that you hold dear to your heart, denoting "self control", "able to withstand rigorous scrutiny" like in some empirical laboratory experiment.

I took the time...and I turned it around in my head, over and over, from every single angle, from every single perspective...

And I could not find one single tenet, one single clause, one single item in any textbook, moral, ethical, philosophical, legal code, that could justify why the Feminine should be your dumping ground.

I concluded that this is an anomaly, a disease, that must be radically eradicated, due to its contagious nature.

A zero tolerance, that will no longer accept any rationalizations, any justifications.

Whether that violence is physical, sexual, moral, psychological, religious, political, or social does not matter either.

After all, Iraq, She is the land of Civilization, where things started to grow, where seeds sprouted, where monuments were erected, where everything stood tall under the Sun.

Just because you tried to turn Her into a flat dumping ground, does not mean She is. This is only an Illusion in your mind.

You better go and re-read history. She has given birth a thousand times and She has risen from Her ashes a thousand times, and nothing and no one will ever stop Her.Layla Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08450953328181838692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31554268.post-37741611348398950672013-12-14T04:47:00.000+00:002013-12-19T00:16:08.587+00:00Another one bites the dust...Being a female blogger is a very "interesting" experience to say the least...you do come across all sorts...
Some sorts, you let go of...you don't want to be flogging dead psychotic horses, some others, you wait and see and others ...you deal with...hoping they are not already dead horses, waiting to be flogged.

In my "career" as a blogger, I have come across it all...I do not share every single email I have received, nor every single intimidation, nor every single threat...I collect them...I amass them...as souvenirs then comes a day when I decide I want to share my collection with the world...both as an experience I wish you to partake in , and as a warning.....

Am kind that way...and patient that way...I warn before hand..so those who know can inform those who don't.

Let's take one example that of an Indian guy, who goes by the name of Shishir Yerramilli, living in the UAE, and emailing from different accounts under the name of yshishir@hotmail.com and ysv_rao@yahoo.com among others, he is also on google circle and google hangout, and loves posting Videos on Hindu gods and goddesses with a little Bruce Springsteen in between...

This Shishir was/ is responsible for some cyber security operations in the UAE , pity those Arabs who employ such degenerate specimens. And was also involved in providing "security" for Iraq, whatever that means . I leave you to interpret what that means.Just google him.

I don't know who this "man" is, but he kept emailing me...and his emails got progressively worse starting with

matters regulating personal status which include marriage and divorce. I will
not go through each article, take the time to read it yourself.

Not that
"Shariah" law has disappeared from Iraqi society after our
"liberation", quite the opposite, Iraqi society has all the necessary
allure of a "shariah" compliant society.
How so ? Very simple, just
judging by the sheer amount of women who have been forced to veil since 2003,
is a good indicator. Well at least in your "religious" books, that is
the indicator to look for.

The fact that Iraqi society has become one of the
most corrupt, morally bankrupt societies on the face of this earth, is really
beside the point. The fact that Iraqi's societal fabric is torn into smithereens is also beside the point. The fact that disease, poverty,
unemployment, and killings is the bread and butter of daily life, is also
beside the point. The fact that torture and executions is the ethos of the
"new Iraq" is also beside the point. The important thing,
though, is that women are compliant..."shariah" compliant.

It does not
really matter that rates of illiteracy have doubled, when this latter had been
eradicated back in the 80's. It does not matter that girls suffer double the
rate of illiteracy than boys, it does not matter that in Baghdad alone, over
15% of youth is illiterate, forced into street labor, it does not matter that
over 20% of youth in Southern Iraq, your shiite stronghold, can't read or
write, (ironically in Najaf the "great lieu" of Shiite
"learning" wants to be called the "Capital of Knowledge" kid
you not) what matters is the "shariah" compliant aspects that will
regulate your lives. When I say your lives --- I am really referring to the
lives of men. Wait not men, males...is a better word. The Shariah compliant
women who will provide an infinite source of delight for your infinite intimate
pleasures. Ironic how the Shariah regulates your lives, isn't it? You even
managed to turn god, to your advantage.

Which brings me
to the second point -- was it not always to your advantage? Did it not comfort
you in your rigid perception of the world, into higher and lesser
beings...where you could finally overcome that gnawing anxiety that ate your
souls up, that vicious anxiety to preserve so called "order" when in
fact all that you aimed for was to protect your power and privileges ?

I think so too.

This new draft
law, will ensure a continuous flow of object of desires, from 9 year old girls
to 80...and the law is so clement towards your pleasures, it clearly says -- if
you marry a minor meaning a little girl or a senior, basically any female who
is no longer able to fulfill your endless stream of phantasmagoric desires, you
don't even have to pay "financial support (nafaqah) when a wife is either
a minor or a senior and hence unable to sexually satisfy them".

So here is the
Phallus back in full power. Edified into some god given law, regimenting our
lives and our sexuality into submission to what exactly? To a great fallacy of a false god called the Phallus.

Mind you, I
wonder if that too was not the unconscious drive behind your
"liberation", the emasculated American male, trying to re-establish
his phallic power on the lands...and behind all these shows of
"virility" (LOL), he and you got shafted big time...and in turn you shaft
all the same...

I see
nothing "virile" in any of this, I just see desperate, insecure,
impotent, and therefore lethal males trying very hard to re-affirm some
illusion of power, under the pretexts of either "democracy and
freedom" or under the pretext of " the natural God given order".

But you are not
what matters in this equation, nor you, nor your phallic expeditions into
foreign lands or into the female body, what matters to me is the stream of
broken women who will emerge from under the rubbles of your unlimited
desires...

And that, I will
not allow.

It is a source of multi layered information on Iraq, past and present, the American Occupation, what Resistance is and is not...and more.

Even though Ross Caputi centers his experience on Fallujah but the scope of the video does go beyond Fallujah. and touches on so many more aspects. I do urge you to watch it.

A very well done piece of work.
Hats off Ross C and Bless you from an Iraqi.

Not that it matters much. It never mattered in the beginning, I don't see why it should matter in the end.

Not that I stopped loving, I have my own beef to deal with with Iraqis, I don't forcibly see them with kind eyes. But that's another story.

Also I was wondering what were the "invisible forces" that blocked me from writing ---apart from my most disappointing love, a few death and rape threats, that took their temporary toll...the likes of " you will get raped with knives"...

I often imagined what is it like to be raped with knives, not that I particularly enjoy the imagery, but a sort of "desentization" if you may call it...I press my legs hard against my seat as the picture comes across ...not that it is a first. I had the utmost pleasure of seeing my "corpse pissed on in a morgue and fucked by dwarfs..."

At the end of the day, I can tell you this --- men's imagination is not terribly fertile, its predictability is rather boring...very much like a tiny penis trying hard to grow.

And tiny penises is what abound...be it in email threats or in politics.

Not that I wish to be crude or anything but am reminded of this Lebanese joke --- upon seeing a tiny one, a woman was asked, where would you like it ? Her reply - stick it in a vein.

A sort of vaccine, an inoculation... what they call in medical terminology a booster - more of the same.

Which of course brings me to the famous US - Iran nuke deal. Another tiny prick. All the idiots on Twitter seemed pleasantly surprised. I am not sure if they are constitutional idiots or pretending to be.

How is that deal any of a surprise is beyond me...aren't the Shia Iranian militias now turned into political parties, ruling Iraq since 2003 ? Wasn't Ahmadinejad greeted in the US occupied Baghdad Green Zone and protected by US military ? Did Bush not meet A.Hakeem who had landed from Iran ?

And all this horseshit about Israeli " stupefaction". As if Israel was unaware of who has been ruling Iraq since 2003. And what about Israeli deals in "Kurdistan", and who built their airports and who provided them military training and logistics if not Israel.

As for the anti Israel Shiite rhetoric, please tell us how the Israeli commercial bureau off Sadoon Street in Baghdad is faring ?

Come on now, dear people, stop insulting our intelligence with all this propaganda. We know who is what where and when. Sort of like in this Lebanese joke...a tiny prick in a vein.

That's it ? Yes that's it.

NB : Also just in case you forgot, Richard Perle, one of the masterminds of the Iraq invasion/occupation was an advisor to Netanyahu. You use that "intelligence" of yours and connect the dots.

I love the night, there is something of a black velvet in the night...I like the way obscurity covers up....I like not having to see....I like the darkness....I find it restful, appeasing, calm...

Daylight exposes. You see the imperfections, the cracks, the rust, the deformities, the ugliness...

Dark is Mercy, Light is Wrath...

When a something, someone is born, you say --- it has seen the Light. It emerges from the canal of darkness, of security, comfort and mercy to a world of black and white first, then to colors...but at first, it cries when it open its eyes and sees the light....

Crying is a sign that you have seen the light....it has differentiated you, it has separated you...and has exposed the other...in a world of mirrors and reflections...

Today, the o' so proper BBC, ran a piece, en passant...hoping no one would notice...Western media is good at running pieces...it ran many in 2003, and made sure everyone noticed. Pieces and rags of old tattered cloths from the days of Empire...where l'Esprit civilisateur galloped along with her Majesty's horses...into grandiose delusions....delusions of political and moral superiority....delusions of an inherent nobility....delusions of a know it all savior....or so we are told....

Who are you to decide in the first place what should have been done in/to Iraq...Who are you to decide the fate of a sovereign nation in the corridors of your CIA and M16 ?
- End of Sectarian Shia rule
- the re-writing of the Iraqi constitution (drafted by the Americans and Iranians)
- the end to arbitrary killings and detention, rape and torture of all detainees on basis of sect alone and their release
- the end of discriminatory policies in employment, education, etc based on sect
- the provision of government services to all
- the end of corruption
- no division between Shias and Sunnis, a one Islam for all Iraqi Muslims and a one Iraq for all Iraqis.

The protests in Anbar, Fallujah, Sammara, Baquba, Tikrit, Kirkuk, Mosul...and in different parts of Baghdad stress over and over 1) the spontaneous nature of the "popular revolution against oppression and injustice" 2) its peaceful nature i.e unarmed 3) the welcoming of ALL to join the protests regardless of sect or ethnicity as ONE Iraqi people and 4) and the March to Baghdad.

Today, Friday the provinces were sealed...meaning that no one could enter or leave and very strict security measures were implemented to prevent anyone from outside Baghdad to reach the capital.

Sammara, Anbar, Mosul, Baquba, Tikrit, Kirkuk, Fallujah are under siege This is one policy by the sectarian Shia government to ensure that the protests do NOT reach Baghdad.

And within that general siege of the provinces and the capital, there is the siege of the Sunni neighborhoods (Aadhamiya, Ameriya, Saydiyya) in Baghdad to prevent the March to Baghdad as mentioned above. The worst hit neighborhood by excessive security measures, checkpoints, barbed wires, cement blocks, searches, arrests is Aadhamiya which has been encircled for over a week already.

No one can enter or leave Aadhamiya, security forces both in military and civilian clothes search, interrogate, arrest and detain.

Aadhamiya has been a ghetto since the occupation with cement blocks, and checkpoints also Aadhamiya is where Imam Abu Hanifa mosque lies, the shrine of the Imam of the Hanafis - Abu Hanifa.

Today no one was allowed to come near the vicinity of the Abu Hanifa mosque, not even from within the neighborhood itself. Contrary to custom, Abu Hanifa mosque, today Friday, was nearly empty.

Women were thoroughly searched and prevented from coming near. Men were asked to stay out within a radius of the mosque, those below age of 45 were denied entry to the Friday prayer.

One woman said "we have been living like this for years, so what if I want to go to Aadhamiya and pray there, I am an Iraqi, I have the right to go to Nejaf, to Anbar, to Baghdad...this is ALSO my country"

One man over 40, from the neighborhood who forgot his ID at home, was forcibly prevented from attending prayer. This is his testimony.

" I am from the neighborhood, you can ask anyone we all know each other here (true everyone knows everyone in Aadhamiya this is what happens in ghettos) let me through and pray. Even the Zionist jews allow Palestinians over 40 years of age pray in Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem and you won't allow me to pray in my own neighborhood. To which the security forces replied "when it comes to you (your sect) we are worse than the Zionists... "

The witness added "finally they have admitted...we used to lament the American occupation, we are now under a worse occupation."

In Nejaf, on the other hand, Muqtada al Sadr and his followers staged a protest in solidarity with the opposition in BAHRAIN while thousands of Iraqis have being demonstrating in sit ins for over 50 days already and under siege in their own country.

And in a press meeting, the US military command expressed their "concern and worry about the current instability the protests in Iraq are causing... "

Also, because I know what you are about to read and see won't get much publicity...and am here to make sure it does .

His name is Yasser Al-Sammarai.. and it is likely that Yasser Al-Sammarai will not get the publicity Muntadher al Zaidi got...

Al Zaidi, you remember him don't you ? The guy who threw a couple of nice Kundaras / shoes at Bush....well Zaidi got much publicity...
I, for one wrote a post in his honor, I don't regret it ..he was my hero then, but kind of fell from grace after I learned that he and his family are loving supporters of the sectarian drilling raping party of Muqtada Al-Sadr and that despite their anti sectarian and anti Iran rhetoric.

Never mind Al Zaidi, today I am going to introduce to you my new hero, Yasser Al-Sammarai...

"Now these are men " a relative exclaimed jubilantly...while another dried tears of joy and grief, mixed together...

So now you can understand why am so excited ....

My HERO Yasser Al Sammarai gives Paul Bremer the Kundara therapy...the shoe therapy...the treatment ...the ointment...and I love him so for it.

So who is Paul Bremer ?

For those of you who are still ignorant about the US invasion and occupation of Iraq, Paul Bremer was Head of the US Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad Green Zone and responsible along with the sectarian scum / CIA Iran spy like Ahmad Chalabi for the dissolution of the Iraqi army and the "debaathification" process

What is Paul Bremer known for ? His racism and his corruption plus of course being a typical ignorant American cowboy criminal killer

What racism ? Paul Bremer when he arrived to Baghdad had a few assistants working for him in the Green Zone...one day he asks one of them -- Tell what is the Iraqi population ? The assistant said about 24Million. Bremer replied --- we shall bring it down to 4 - 5 Million that should be sufficient.

What corruption ? Under Bremer alone - I say alone because the pillaging of Iraq has not stopped since the filthy americans landed --so under Bremer alone over 20 BILLION U$ of IRAQI money (not american but Iraqi money) disappeared. One batch was 675 Million U$ in CASH stolen in boxes to be counted in New York (never returned), the other is the literal theft of the Iraqi treasury, all the money that was dutifully saved for the food rationing and salaries of ordinary Iraqis under 13 years of brutal sanctions.

This, grosso modo is Paul Bremer...the rest you can google.

So who is Yasser Al Sammarai ? Just an ordinary iraqi guy, maybe his speaking and English skills are not perfect but they are good enough for me ...when he tells Bremer as in the video above --

I have two messages for you - one you destroyed Iraq and the other is from Saddam Hussein....Fuck you and Fuck your democracy.... For me that is PERFECT English.

Why do I think that Yasser Al Sammarai will not get much publicity like Munthadher al Zaidi ?

Because in the video here in Arabic he clearly says -- I am proud to have thrown a shoe at Bremer the guy who was instrumental in destroying Iraq and handing it to his agents and partisans, Iran and Maliki ....and Assad of Syria turn will come next.

You may of course argue that this is a pathetic attempt at justice....you are right -- you are pathetic bastards for having let loose your war criminals without trial for crimes against humanity ...Bush, Blair and Co.

As for us true Iraqis, short of real justice done, this is as good as it gets...for now...just for now.

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Oh and "fuck you and fuck your democracy "

Omar Ali Al-Ani. martyr unarmed protester killed among 9 others today in Fallujah by the sectarian Shia government of Nouri Al-Maliki

So you crossed oceans, with thousands of men, the greatest movement of troops since the second world war to "liberate" from a "dictatorship"and what a liberation it was, is...

I said to myself, I will not write anymore. What is the point - thousands still linger in secret dungeons, tortured, raped and killed...in your new democracy, your model for the rest of the Arab world. You did not blink an eye...you saw absolutely nothing fundamentally wrong with any of it...life goes on for you, as it did in the past, as it will in the future...who cares...not you...certainly not the other Arabs, and definitely not the vile sectarian dogs you installed...in your model democracy.

One should really command you with utmost praise for your noble endeavors...noble undertakings from a very noble people...we are really enjoying your model democracy...the airs of freedom are still giving us shivery goosebumps of ecstasy ....who would have thought we can now breathe so carefree, not in our wildest dreams.

Today we tested and tasted your model democracy- as we have done since 2003 - thousands of unarmed civilians took the streets throughout Iraq - in Kirkuk, in Mosul, in Ramadi, in Fallujah, in Baghdad...it was baptized the "No Retreat" protests.

They have been going on for quite some time with very poor media coverage...I understand it is not in your interest to show such protests in your new model democracy...last week 4 young men were killed in front of Abu Hanifa mosque in Adhamiya -Baghdad. No one said a word about them. Killed by the "freely elected government" of the new Iraq. Come on let us see you have a good belly laugh, or at least a smile ? No ? Well how about the following then...

In this video , the "Iraqi" armed forces are shooting at protesters who are shouting "this is a peaceful protest." Still nothing ? OK let us give it another try. How about the following...

Today in Fallujah, 10 unarmed civilians have been shot dead by your new model democracy, and 70 wounded...one of them is Omar Ali Al-Ani from Fallujah. This is his Facebook page

And here is the video of him lying dead in Fallujah hospital

And below is the list of names of those killed and wounded

Not that it will make any difference to you, not that it made in the past...still I feel the need to record it, to honor them like the ones who passed before them, and as a reminder to myself and maybe to you, that our liberation is not over yet...

I hope you have realized by now that it is not about a 13mn video trailer in itself, but what about this trailer represents in the grand scheme of things.

And in this post, I would like to stress on that word "representation". How the Other is presented/represented on some ideological/cultural level (even though I have conceptual problems with the word Culture here, but I will still use it) and how this representation serves political ends.

In my previous post, I talked about the hyper sexualization of the Other - and I gave a concrete example when I mentioned "the penis driven religion" called Islam. I have more vulgar representations of the Other, besides "penis driven" - another one I come across frequently is " with their asses up in the air" (referring to Muslim prostration during prayers). In themselves these may be "anecdotal " and consequently brushed off as some cheap shot at the Other.

However when terms used by the Western other like --"animals, beasts, savages, penis driven, and asses up in the air" are inscribed in a specific historical and political context --- they take on a different meaning altogether, they become ideological weapons...used against the Other. They no longer become a "joke" afforded by "Free Speech"

Again, I will try to keep it as simple as I can, even though it is no simple matter and is quite complex, as it has so many levels, layers - so to speak...

Without wanting to get into a history of Orientalism and the "representation of the other" I will draw analogies from a vivid memory...

I will start with Iraq, the cradle of Civilization, that has known no respite in lack of Civility. I will start with Abu Ghraib.

Abu Ghraib - Abu Ghraib is the perfect example of the "representation of the Other." It is not the only example yet it is my starting point.

I use the Abu Ghraib example because it is full of meaning, images, even though Abu Ghraib is now silent. And this is the power of image versus words...imagery takes over, wins over any time.

And representation of the Other requires, necessitates imagery...images...and imagination.

And since it started off with a film (an image), it is only fair that this film continues in its different episodes...

Abu Ghraib...do you remember Abu Ghraib ?

I do. Abu Ghraib is there always in the back of my mind...it is associated with Free Speech and Democracy, with Human Rights and Liberty.

A penis driven religion...a penis driven people....hooded, made to masturbate, sodomize one another, for snapshots taken by the Western man...for "laughs".

Another image - Guantanamo, where the animal beast savage is chained...shackled in iron, in metal cages, behind metal bars...while innocent.

Images zoom through my mind...

Images stored in the collective, a history of images...images...just like that cheap film made in California...
Dehumanizing and cheap....

Dehumanizing and cheap...is that what Western Freedom is all about..?!

This is only ONE of the Questions you need to ask yourselves until I come back with more...Layla Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08450953328181838692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31554268.post-5350795134914270002012-09-15T02:23:00.000+01:002012-09-15T02:36:38.604+01:00The Innocence of Muslims. It took me much courage to watch it - that "famous" film.

I did it in phases, because I could not stomach the Sacred being trampled upon. In phase 1, I watched 6mn of it. In phase 2. I managed the whole film, more or less, because I kept skipping scenes.

It's only a film I told myself...a bad one too, "artistically" speaking. But this is not a question about artfulness...it's about destructive creativity, and the film is only the needle that broke the camel's back.

The whole incident (and what ensued) was most interesting to observe...a certain detachment is necessary only to get closer to the truth of the matter...

Many levels to the story...a superimposition of levels, of meanings, of perceptions, of discourses, of realities...

So I watched it. The first thing that struck me is the hyper sexualization of the "character" Mohamed. I was not surprised to later read that a certain American by the name of Klein who backed/supported/funded this film (the story is still not quite clear), called Islam a "penis-driven" religion. While the producer of this film (still not quite sure who he is) called it a "cancer".

Mohamed is portrayed as a sex driven lecherous bastard, a pedophile, a cruel sadist, a pervert, and a homosexual.

In those 13mn or so of this cheap trailer, almost comic but not comic at all - you are left with the idea - Mohamed is basically an animal and a savage. He is depicted as this lowly thing, totally under the mercy of the most base impulses, a beast in human form. This is the main idea of the film. And by correlation, anyone who follows Mohamed and his teachings is akin to Mohamed - a beast in human form, a penis driven, cancerous thing that needs to be eliminated for one's survival.

If I want to employ terms borrowed from "orientalist" imagery - this would be "negative orientalism" at its purest. "Positive orientalism" on the other hand (even though still orientalism) would attribute more positive exotic attributes to the Other, yet still not devoid of "potential uncontrollable dangers that can erupt at any time".

The timing of the film is to be given some consideration as well : it suddenly surged on 9/11 (even though am told it was realized before), and as it so happens, before the US elections. But these are relatively minor details (even though important in their own right). What personally interests me is something of a different nature.

I will try to keep it as simple as I can...

When the protests broke out --and quite unfortunately 3 or 4 Americans lost their lives and 18 non Americans as well (protesters and police but no one pays attention to those), H.Clinton in her first press conference said : " these are a small group of Savages" and Obama promised "justice" will be done. Later. we learn military reinforcements as well as drones are sent to Yemen, Libya and Sudan.

Indeed it was an act of "savagery" to kill an American ambassador in a country that NATO just helped to "liberate", but wait a minute here...is that not what the message of the film was all about ? A "savage" prophet ?

Glenn Beck in another statement to the press said -- " these Muslims are animals". But wait a minute here, was that not the message of the film depicting the prophet as a bestial thing - an animal ?

Before I go further I want you, nay I request of you - to bear in mind that during the Wisconsin killings where innocent Sikhs were targeted - no one referred to the killers as animals or savages, ditto for the Norway killer.. Bear that in mind for a second while I continue...

So H.Clinton who is known for her hyena shriek when Gaddafi was lynched with "we came, we saw, he died", re-confirmed the message passed on by the film - the savage Muslim ( a group of them we were assured).

When the protests had spread well beyond Benghazi and Cairo...it no longer became an issue if Americans were killed but if the sanctity of the American flag was "hurt". American flags burned from Morocco to Bangladesh, even in lousy "liberated" Iraq...

Reuters wrote in total outrage in CAPITAL letters on Twitter - "they burned the trees surrounding the US embassy in Sudan and broke the windows" like - how could they - it was nothing but a film ?!

But was it really just about a film ? Or was it really just about a cartoon ?

Our house Muslims quick to pacify, immediately polished the shoe of the master, almost automatically..."it's just a film" they said. Just like they said "it was just a cartoon", "look at Syria" they'd conclude.

Needless to say, our house-Muslims in the past never gave two hoots about Syria...and when they did they called the rebels "nothing but a bunch of salafis paid by the West" oh wait, wait, till you read about our online Hijabis, the ones that would bore us to tears with their "religiosity, piousness and their hijabs" suddenly took a distance marked by an "embarrassment" with these "savages" that stormed US embassies and oh horror of horrors burned the American flag. After all, Islam is a religion of peace, as long as you are allowed to keep your accessory hijab on.

The house Muslims along with the media assured and re-assured us it was just the "salafis" - the hardcore extremists who took offense. These "salafis" "jihadists" happen to be the "savages" by association as per the film and the US government. Except in the film it was Prophet Mohammed himself.

So was it really about a film ? or was it about some subconscious message that everyone registered, or was it about US empire and its symbols ? It was all three and more...

Surely you can't convince me that the hundreds of protesters were all salafis, jihadists, surely you can't convince me that all were angry about just a film ?!

One cleric from Khasmir summed it up well --- in simple terms --- it's about time the US leaves the region.

In order to occupy a region from Afghanistan to Iraq, you need to vilify and demonize...the film is NOT a separate incident from the general American foreign policy but a continuation of it.

Protesters storming American and Western Embassies, burning American flags, Hardees (an American hamburger joint) and Kentucky Fried Chicken -- are nothing but a symbolic response...not just to a film that depicts the Imam, the leader, the Prophet of ALL Muslims as an animal and as a savage, but to an American foreign policy that has turned the people it has occupied and whose lives it has utterly destroyed into angry "beasts".

But I will not stop here...because as I said before there are many levels to the story...the other levels being-- the hyper sexualization of the Other, the perception of violence (when committed by the Other), the stubborn resistance of notions/concepts of "Sacredness & Sacrality" versus "West & Modernity" and last but not least a redefinition of meanings and concepts like "Democracy, Free speech" in the age of the American Empire.

PS: To note in European countries, you can get arrested for "anti-Semitism" but not for anti Islam. Are we the "niggers" of the New World Order ? Layla Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08450953328181838692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31554268.post-4246487991148147702012-09-06T06:23:00.002+01:002012-09-06T16:04:25.824+01:00The Morality of Hypocrites...
What ? Hypocrites have morals ? Well yes, they pretend to have morals -- I call it a fake morality.
One of the best examples of fake morality - i.e the morality of Hypocrites is Iraq. Masha'Allah, no one can supersede today's Iraqis with hypocrisy. They have graduated in Hypocrisy with Honors, and some even acquired a Doctorate in the art of Hypocrisy --- just like they are purchasing their "PhDs" in today's Iraq.

Since 2003, when those ignorant, dumb, killers, psychopaths, fucked up idiots, clueless barbarians, stinking backward filth called the Americans (and the Brits) landed in Iraq, ever since that day Iraq has become a beacon of "morality" - the morality of Hypocrites. A mirror image of the "morality" of America and of course how could I forget the "morality" of Iran.

Ever since this "liberation", "Human Rights & Individual Freedoms" - oh the worshiped words of Western "democracies" - have been totally eroded, trampled upon, spat upon - to the utter silence of these "well meaning" "self sacrificing" Western "democracies"

Forget for a moment the secret dungeons where rape and torture run galore, and forget the executions, one after another with no trial, forget silencer guns and arbitrary arrests, forget these basics -- for they do not exist in today's Iraq

Forget for a moment Iraq being indexed as the most corrupt country in the world, after poor Somalia, forget the embezzlement in billions of $$$, forget the smuggling of oil, the commissions on phony deals, the acquisition of obsolete technology, the expired medicine and medical equipment on the black market, the promotions canapés in government ministries ( promotion canapé basically means you are promoted if you lay down on a couch with your legs in the air or if you bend over - whatever suits best) forget parochial clientélisme; patronage and partisans of a sectarian quota system where a barber and vegetable vendor suddenly become an ambassador or minister with a "PhD" (of course), just because he happens to be either a Shiite or a Kurd...

Forget the prostitution and pimping rings in the Green Zone, forget the 10$ Muta'a temporary marriages in the "Holy Cities"....

Forget all the above, because in the new Iraq all the above is unimportant. It has nothing to do with morality, absolutely nothing.

What is really important though is that you dress modestly --- modestly as in clad, modestly as in ninja, modestly as in a walking tent...

You see modesty is really centered around you, the ordinary Iraqi trying to breathe...A veil is no longer enough, you need more...you need to look like an Iranian shadow in a chador...only then will you be considered modestly dressed. You need to follow the example of our female parliamentarians, the ones who assist sessions dressed like tents in rubber flip flops -- another set of "PhD's" has been awarded to them (of course) As for our honorable non veiled or slightly veiled female parliamentarians, they hardly ever assist any sessions, most of the time they direct their affairs from abroad and just fly into Baghdad at the end of the month to cash in their hefty paychecks.

So in the new Iraq, having a scarf on your head is not enough unless you "work" in the Green Zone. Wearing lipstick or some bright color or God forbid your ankle shows and you are immediately perceived as lacking "morals". (article here)

And as if that was not enough in the new "democratic" Iraq (vomit), the "morality police" which consists of "army special forces" cracks down on the few night clubs and alcohol shops left open in Baghdad (article here) vandalizing the places, beating clients and performing artists - ordinary Iraqis - who need to breathe, something other than DU and Shiite lamentations. Most likely the army "special forces aka morality police" will drink the stuff themselves, after their evening Husseiniyat or the "moral" ones in their midst will trade it in the black market or smuggle it to the "Holy Cities" for another set of "moral" clients in turbans.

I heard in a news bulletin, that Antonio Gutterez of United Nations Commission for Refugees, spoke of a humanitarian crisis and tragedy taking place in Syria. He said that the number of killed according to him was higher than the 26'000 people as reported by the Syrian Human Rights activists. He furthered added that that the residents of Homs and Aleppo were suffering severe shortages, and that he had never seen as many wounded being admitted in the only two functional hospitals in these respective cities.

He also spoke of a clear "civil war" where both parties were totally unequal in armed power, referring to the Syrian forces using air power plus sophisticated weapons in comparison to the opposition who had only light artillery. And I did catch the total number of Syrian government forced killed to date to be around 1'300, while the rest are almost all civilians. He also spoke of an indescribable violence.

Needless to say none of that can be found on the net, since I searched for it. However I did stumble on his address to the UN council which can be read here.

From the full statement, it is implied that not only the ordinary Syrians are forced to flee but that other refugees now present in Syria in particular Palestinians are also being forced to leave. You need to read the whole statement carefully to understand the language of "diplomacy".

He also mentions a number of Syrians seeking refuge, drowning in the Mediterranean sea including children earlier this week. A piece of news that was not covered by the mainstream media.

As a matter of fact the refugee crisis and tragedy is not being covered sufficiently in the media for obvious political reasons. The total number of Syrian refugees to day (since the start of crackdown and butchery by the Assad Regime) is around 229'000, and rapidly rising. A total of 3'000 per day cross into neighboring countries. To give you one example, in the past 24hrs over 200 Syrians fled to Lebanon.

Antonio Gutterez also spoke of a dramatic increase in orphans and widows in Syria.

The head of the ICRC on the other hand mentions 1.2 million Internally Displaced Persons in Syria (IDP), full article here with very difficult living conditions and an impending fear of being killed any minute. Those who flee inside the country try to find refuge in Damascus.

UNICEF on the other hand mentions for THIS week's death toll in Syria at 1'600, adding that "it was one of the biggest humanitarian emergencies in the last decade" - on which I will have to disagree, Iraq was much worse...I just hope Syria will not reach the same levels of sectarian cleansing we witnessed in Iraq. During 2006-2007, on some days the death toll would reach 3'000 killed per day. I pray that Syria will not spiral down to this kind of level of violence.

Needless to add that there is a severe shortage of funds to host the Syrian refugees and only 50% of the pledged contributions have been received -- again one does not need to be a genius to understand why refugee aid has been trickling so slowly seeing the gravity of the problem.

A few testimonies

"We saw people sitting on the street and
sleeping. They don't have a toilet. It's very bad ... No food. Children
in the street," says one person.--Turkey

"Men, women and children stood in the street in front of one school with their bags and suitcases, some unsure where to go. (after Ministry of Education decided to vacate one school) -- Lebanon

While another refugee said "Animals are treated with better living conditions" -- Iraq

And some are stranded in the middle of the desert in very harsh conditions with next to zero sanitation, like the Zaatari camp -- Jordan.
For me it's still night...shrouded in Darkness. My thoughts race, like laser beams, I need to make sense of events. I have to make sense of events. I have to, it's imperative.

I will consecrate this post to several Notes to Self, that I shall share out loud on this blog, I need to jot down everything. It does not matter if it does not make sense to you, it will eventually. Hence this post will be regularly updated with my own notes - hopefully all the pieces of the puzzle will fit in the end, as am sure they will.

#SYRIA - IRAN

Just read a very important piece from the Wall Street Journal. Iran officially acknowledges that it will be sending Iranian Revolutionary Guards, plus hundreds of foot soldiers, as well as "civilian" Basijis to reinforce the Assad regime i.e to fight along his side.

Now, this is in itself is not news to me. Everyone knows that Iranian operatives are fighting in Syria, including Hezbollah men, and of course Iraqi Shiite Militias notably Muqtada Al-Sadr Jaysh Al-Mahdi men.

What is interesting in this piece though, is the other information... You can read it here in its entirety.
I, for my part, will retain certain keys sentences and will build on them as I go along..

I mentioned in one of my posts on Syria that it is in the interest of Iran to have a continuous "civil" war there, provided it has the upper hand. It is not only out of love for Bashar Al-Assad's person, Iran will drop Bashar Al-Assad like a used tissue the minute it can work out someone else that will serve its interests in Syria - in agreement with the Americans, the EU and Russia. However, meanwhile the balance of power in the region is still in favor of Iran, the stalling by the International community and by the US and EU is a good indicator of that Iranian leverage.

I have been following the Syrian crisis closely and even though I don't comment on it often, I have kept my observations strictly to myself. I have noticed a very distinct pattern in the unfolding of the conflict.

The surrounding cities of the capital Damascus are being gradually emptied (see the huge Syrian refugee exodus, 32'000 just this week alone and according to latest rough figures by the UNHCR a total of 200'000 refugees + since the beginning of the conflict).

The areas in the closest vicinity of Damascus center (apart from Al-Midan) are still relatively intact. In other words the fighting is being kept on the outskirts. I am going to rephrase that - the cleansing is so far being kept at the outskirt of the center of the capital. So far, am presuming that the Assad regime is still counting on its supporters who happen to be mainly in the capital and in certain predominantly Alawite regions like Latakia and Tartous. His supporters are not only Alawites though they do form the bulk, but Christians and Sunnis as well. (we can't deny that fact).

From the way Iran and its militias operate, they first hit (cleanse) the areas outside the capital, or what they consider to be the "weakest links", then move on to the capital if they feel the regime has weakened enough to be overthrown or collapses. It is a classical military tactic but in the case of Syria it serves a two fold purpose. As long as Syria is in a state of civil war and the regime has not collapsed in favor of the opposition, Iran will retain the upper hand.

Hence a continuous state of sectarian war waged upon the Syrians is beneficial to Iran, as it also forces the other countries concerned (namely Turkey - a direct regional competitor to Iran) into a position of defense. Defensive means there's an Offensive by proxy. The proxy being Syria.

So getting back to the article I mentioned above and I shall be quoting from it at great length. Iran to send men, arms and cash in an effort to bolster the Assad regime. According to one commander of the IRGC

-- " Today we are involved in fighting every aspect of a war, a military one
in Syria and a cultural one as well," Gen. Salar Abnoush, commander of
IRGC's Saheb al-Amr unit, told Iranian volunteer trainees...

-- "As the Arab Spring unfolded in countries including Libya, Egypt and
Bahrain, the Islamic Republic cast its own revolution as an inspiration
for the uprisings. But Tehran didn't support the protesters in Syria—its closest ally in the region"

-- "One of Iran's wings will be broken if Assad falls. They are now using
all their contacts from Iraq to Lebanon to keep him power"

-- "Syria is managing this situation very well on its own,"... but if the government can't resolve the crisis on its own, then based
on their request we will fulfill our mutual defense-security pact."

-- "Syria's crisis tops the agenda at the summit of Non-Aligned Movement
nations this week in Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi
said Thursday that Iran would announce a surprise peace plan for Syria
during the five-day conference, which started Sunday."

-- "Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has the final word in
all state matters, has appointed Qasim Solaimani, the commander of the
elite Quds Forces, to spearhead military cooperation with Mr. Assad and
his forces, according to an IRGC member in Tehran with knowledge about
deployments to Syria."

-- "Solaimani has convinced Mr. Khamenei that Iran's borders extend beyond
geographic frontiers, and fighting for Syria is an integral part of
keeping the Shiite Crescent intact," said the IRGC member in Tehran. The
so-called Crescent, which came together after Saddam Hussein's fall,
includes Shiites from Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria. (note : Syria is majority Sunni)

-- "Iran is now sending hundreds of rank-and-file members of the IRGC and the basij—a plainclothes volunteer militia answering to the guards—to Damascus, said two people in the IRGC familiar with the movements.
Many of the Iranian troops hail from IRGC units outside Tehran, these
people say, particularly from Iran's Azerbaijan and Kurdistan regions
where they have experience dealing with ethnic separatist movements "

--" Iran has also started moving military aid and cash to Syria through
Iranian companies in Iraq, such as a construction company owned by a
former IRGC member now living in Iraq and a tour company servicing
pilgrims to holy Shiite sites "

From the few statements made by the Iranian officials tied to the regime several aspects come out very clearly.
- it is a military war in the region by proxy - of course "anti imperialists" will jump and say it is an imperialist war against Iran through Syria. Not so. Wait and read the rest...

- it is a sectarian war waged upon the majority Sunnis of Syria by an Alawite sect derived from Shiism (even if a portion of Sunnis still support Assad) - hence reference to the "Shia Crescent"

- it is a cultural war as Soleimani rightly said - cultural as in Shiite versus Sunnis but also as in Persians versus Arabs (trace historical roots - will be tackled in another post)

- as for the "anti-imperialists" I will ask them to re-read the part of how the Iranian arms and cash are flowing through US occupied Iraq to Syria.

Will continue Insha'Allah with more Insomnia's thoughts...
